Bangkok to Koh Samui Flights
Flying out of Bangkok
Travellers flying out of Bangkok will leave from Suvarnabhumi Airport, whose name means "The Golden Land." Handling over forty-seven million passengers each year, it is one of the busiest airports in Asia and is a hub for numerous airlines, including Airways International, Bangkok Airlines, and Orient Thai Airlines, all of which can be booked online through ebookers. Located at Bang Sao Thong, Samut Prakan, Thailand, the airport is about fifteen miles east of Bangkok's city centre and fifteen miles north of the coast.
Where to Park
Parking at Suvarnabhumi Airport is divided into regular parking and long-term parking lots. The regular lots are located directly next to the terminal and cost 240 baht per day. The long-term parking is a short walk away from the terminals costs only 133 baht per day. If you are planning a longer holiday, you can purchase a monthly parking spot for 950 baht.
Getting There
Ways to get to the airport by public transportation are plentiful. If you're light on luggage, however, the most convenient transportation method will be the bus system. Numerous bus routes stop at the airport, including routes 389, 390, 825, 9904, 9905, 9906, 9907, 9908, 9909, 9910, and 9916, and cost at most 70 baht per ride. Another option is the Airport Rail Link train service. The City Line is the most affordable at 45 baht but makes multiple stops and takes thirty minutes to get to the airport. The two express lines are much faster, averaging fifteen minutes from downtown, but cost 150 baht. Taxis are available for hire for 8 baht per mile plus a small driver fee, or you can let ebookers take care of booking you a car to take you to the airport.
What to Eat
The airport has many fast-food restaurants, including Burger King and Dairy Queen. For a more formal meal, however, Kinramen is a tasty option. It serves Japanese noodle dishes and is a great place to eat if you have some time to kill. The Mango Tree, a Thai restaurant that is known for its pad Thai noodles, is also on site. Both of these options will cost around 180 baht a dish. The Reef Bar is a fun place to grab a drink if you need to fill some time before flying out of Bangkok.
Traveling to Koh Samui
Situated off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus, the island of Koh Saumi is Thailand's second-largest island. Its white-sand beaches and coral reefs attract over one and a half million visitors per year. Planning a tropical island getaway to Koh Saumi is a breeze when you use ebookers to make your travel reservations. You'll arrive at Koh Saumi Airport, located roughly one mile from the island's main city, Chaweng. It is a private airport originally built by Bangkok Airlines, which is still the main carrier servicing the island.
Transportation from Koh Saumi Airport
You have several options to get to Chaweng from Koh Saumi Airport. A minibus picks up passengers at the airport frequently for a cost of 120 baht. Taking a taxi is faster, and rides to the main city cost between three hundred and five hundred baht. You should negotiate your rate ahead of time if you choose a taxi, as many drivers refuse to use their meters.
Weather in Koh Saumi
The island of Koh Saumi has a tropical monsoon climate, which means eleven months out of the year experience heavy-to-moderate rainfall. February is the driest month, as average rainfall drops below three inches. The wettest months are October and November, and rainfall during other months of the wet season tends to end quickly, allowing you to get back to lounging on the beach. Temperatures throughout the year range between 24°C and 32°C. No matter what season you're planning to visit, be sure to pack cool, light clothing to deflect the heat and humidity, and bring an umbrella too in case a shower strikes while you're exploring the island.
Things to Do in Koh Saumi
Koh Saumi is famous for its fabulous beaches and incredible ocean views. Laem Yai is on the north-west side of the island and offers a secluded beach with views of the Ang Thong islands. Chaweng beach is the most popular tourist beach, with facilities for water sports and a vibrant nightlife scene. Located on the north-eastern tip of the island is the village of Bang Rok, home of the famous Big Buddha Beach. When you're tired of lounging on the gorgeous white sand, take in some of the island's cultural attractions, such as the Laem Sor Pagoda Ko Samui, the Wat Khunaram Ko Samui, and the Secret Buddha Garden. When you're ready to escape to the exotic tropical island of Koh Saumi, remember that ebookers can help you find great deals on airline tickets and hotel accommodation.
