Teesside to Orlando Flights

Flying from Durham Tees Valley Airport

Originally a major airport for the Royal Air Force in the Second World War, Durham Tees Valley Airport is now a major commercial airport in the Teesside area of north-east England. Over two hundred thousand travellers go through the airport each year while boarding and unloading from planes flown by the major airlines in the region, including KLM and Eastern Airways. It was officially named Durham Tees Valley Airport in 2004. The airport address is simply Darlington, United Kingdom, which is about ten miles south-west of Middleborough and twenty-four miles south of Durham.

Safe and Secure Parking

Durham Tees Valley Airport has a reputation for having safe and secure parking lots. A week of parking will cost around $50, but if you park for longer than fifteen days, the rate drops to $5 per day. The best way to pay for parking is to pay in advance on the airport’s website. You can also receive special promotions and offers if you register as a member when you buy your parking pass. All parking lots are just a two-minute walk away from the terminal.

Transportation to the Airport

A number of ways to get to the airport are available, the first and most affordable of which being by bus. Bus line 12 will take you from Darlington, which is north-west of the airport, straight to the terminals at the airport. A day ticket costs around $5, and a one-way ticket is only a little bit less. No train service runs to the airport, but if you are coming from far away and wish to take the train, you can catch a ride to Darlington Train Station and then take the bus to the airport. Taxis are also available for hire from 1AB Taxis. Depending on where you are coming from, a taxi ride can run anywhere from $20 to $50.

Satisfy Your Hunger

If you are looking to grab a bite to eat before your flight, Cafe Oasis and Cafe Express are great options for a quick cup of coffee for your early morning flight or a sandwich to satisfy your appetite at lunch or dinner. Both places offer hot or cold drinks and snacks, but if you want a bigger meal, go to Cafe Express. Yard of Ale is a traditional British pub inside the airport where you can grab a drink and a burger before your flight out of Teesside.

Arrival in Orlando

Flights to Orlando land at Orlando Airport, which is the busiest airport in Florida, and reaching the centre of the city is simple by taxi, bus or rental car. Florida is a large state and often the easiest way to explore is to include car hire as part of a holiday package. The road system is straightforward and Orlando is an excellent base from which to visit other areas.

Orlando is synonymous with Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Walt Disney World. These are attractions that must be visited, but there is more to the city. Gatorland is a local attraction that many families enjoy, as children of all ages can get up close and personal with the state's native alligators. There are also a number of water parks for families to visit, as well as night-time spectacles such as Cirque du Soleil.

Shopping is an important pastime, so set time aside after arriving on any flights Orlando bound. Vineland Avenue is the area to visit for tourists in search of premium brands at discounted prices, while Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores offers discounts on high street brands. Florida Mall has over 250 stores to peruse, as well as food outlets and plentiful parking. If sport is of interest, Orlando Magic is the local basketball team. They play in the NBA and are based at the 20,000-capacity Amway Center. Nearby, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play in the NFL to crowds of over 65,000; taking in a game provides the ultimate American sporting experience.
