Teesside to Abu Dhabi Flights
Flying from Durham Tees Valley Airport
Originally a major airport for the Royal Air Force in the Second World War, Durham Tees Valley Airport is now a major commercial airport in the Teesside area of north-east England. Over two hundred thousand travellers go through the airport each year while boarding and unloading from planes flown by the major airlines in the region, including KLM and Eastern Airways. It was officially named Durham Tees Valley Airport in 2004. The airport address is simply Darlington, United Kingdom, which is about ten miles south-west of Middleborough and twenty-four miles south of Durham.
Safe and Secure Parking
Durham Tees Valley Airport has a reputation for having safe and secure parking lots. A week of parking will cost around $50, but if you park for longer than fifteen days, the rate drops to $5 per day. The best way to pay for parking is to pay in advance on the airport’s website. You can also receive special promotions and offers if you register as a member when you buy your parking pass. All parking lots are just a two-minute walk away from the terminal.
Transportation to the Airport
A number of ways to get to the airport are available, the first and most affordable of which being by bus. Bus line 12 will take you from Darlington, which is north-west of the airport, straight to the terminals at the airport. A day ticket costs around $5, and a one-way ticket is only a little bit less. No train service runs to the airport, but if you are coming from far away and wish to take the train, you can catch a ride to Darlington Train Station and then take the bus to the airport. Taxis are also available for hire from 1AB Taxis. Depending on where you are coming from, a taxi ride can run anywhere from $20 to $50.
Satisfy Your Hunger
If you are looking to grab a bite to eat before your flight, Cafe Oasis and Cafe Express are great options for a quick cup of coffee for your early morning flight or a sandwich to satisfy your appetite at lunch or dinner. Both places offer hot or cold drinks and snacks, but if you want a bigger meal, go to Cafe Express. Yard of Ale is a traditional British pub inside the airport where you can grab a drink and a burger before your flight out of Teesside.
Flights to Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is the centre of government in the United Arab Emirates. Both business and pleasure travellers flock to the city to experience its rich culture and modern amenities. The city is the home of some of the largest oil conglomerates in the world. Travellers with flights booked through ebookers typically arrive at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, which can be found on Sheik Maktoum Bin Rashid Road, approximately twenty-seven miles from the city centre. Major carriers at the airport include Air Berlin, Air India, Alitalia, British Airways, Egyptair, Lufthansa, Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines, and Virgin Australia.
Getting Around in Abu Dhabi
The city's modern development relies heavily on the use of personal cars. Rental cars can be arranged at the airport, with fees varying based on the needs of each traveller. Private taxi services are available throughout the city, with fares starting around ten dirhams, even when travelling across the city. Bus lines also crisscross the city, with fares beginning at two dirhams for one-way travel. A day pass costs only six dirhams. Travel time to hotels in the city centre from the airport typically takes about one hour by car and longer by a public transit option.
Weather and Climate
Abu Dhabi is exceptionally warm all year long. Visitors should pack light and expect to keep to air-conditioned areas to ward off sunburn and dehydration, especially in the summer months when temperatures can easily reach forty-one degrees Celsius. The winter experiences lows that only dip to around thirteen degrees.
Enjoying Your Travel
Visitors to Abu Dhabi are likely to delight in the many shopping areas and modern attractions that dot the cityscape. Travellers can visit the site of the mostly completed Sheik Zayed mosque, which is the sixth-largest mosque in the world, or enjoy a desert safari and camel race that hearkens back to the early days of the Arab world. Abu Dhabi also has helicopter tours for those wanting to experience a bird's eye view of the desert and the beautiful modern city.
