Disappointed

We stayed at the Holiday Inn 5 years ago and loved it, no complaints, so when it came time to book our trip it was a no brainer we would stay at the Holiday Inn again. We were so disappointed this time around the room was awful the musty smell was so strong and the mold and mildew was all over the walls in the bathroom, closet and you could even see on the ceiling of the main sleeping area. Unfortunately this is reason enough for me not to go back as it was disgusting. The staff was not very friendly. The food is good but never saw the restaurants open so we just ate at the buffet. The only thing this hotel has going for them is the set up of the pool being so close to the beach it is awesome and very convenient with the kids. My kids loved the pool.

" great island , poor hotel"

The best island in the world but the hotel had very poor service. The food is below average and the one ALC restaurant was open just two nights out of eight. I'll be back to Aruba but to a different hotel.

beyond awful- don't make this mistake

This was the absolute worst hotel and staff I have ever come in contact with. I don't get many vacation days and they were completely wasted on this trip. Aruba in general is beautiful, but this hotel is a HUGE ripoff and gross. DO NOT STAY HERE! It says all inclusive, but they do not take reservations in advance and we got there on a wednesday (tried to make reservations first thing in the morning) and were only able to eat in one of the restaurants on the night before we were supposed to leave on saturday. EVERYTHING WAS TOTALLY BOOKED- They were rude and wouldn't even put us on a waitlist. This forced us to go out for every single dinner, except for one. It was dirty, they were rude, and I have never come in contact with more miserable staff. Pay an extra $100 or $200 and go to ANY other hotel in Aruba!!! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS WE DID!

good, bad & ugly

Hotel great customer service at desk, bars & restaurants. Hotel needs to be updated.... old looking. Carpet in hallway & room .. should be tile... carpet is gross. Bathroom stalls near beach really tight to get into. All inclusive should mean all drinks.... Not an extra charge for Heineken, Absolute etc. Beach rafts should be included in the all inclusive as well.

Great - Once we moved to another room!!

First before I left for Aruba I checked out the Remarks..and of course the first one I saw was that a couple said their room was inhabitable...so I was ready. So I asked the hotel clerk that I wanted an upgraded room right from the start and she told me it was $40 to upgrade. So I decided to look at the room...well this room hadn't been upgraded in 20 years...it was just awful and should have been bulldozed. It overlooked the garbage...so I went back to the front desk and I told her that I could not stay in this room....she then put me in another tower which was the upgraded tower and the room was now a superior room...and it was a nice room. We did have a nice stay there - it was only a 2 day stay since we had a timeshare for the next 7 days. I would not stay there again - wouldn't take the chance of not being able to get a nicer room the next time.

So, so

'Did not know that bathrooms had only shower, not tub. 'Unhappy about hassle to get a lounge chair or a spot under palapa. Dirty restroom. 1 of 2 elevators did not work half of the week, so walked up 4 floors more than once to find door locked! Pool configuration did not allow for swimming laps. Generous supply of towels in room and comfortable bed. Nice view of water from balcony. Good size fridge. Beach was beautiful.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Dinner at Madam Janette was superb! Bucaneer was a letdown - fishy smell and lots of noisy kids. Salt and Pepper was a good option for breakfast and dinner. Don't miss the creperie across from hotel - divine!

Great value, excellent location

I have to say , after reading all the other terrible reviews this hotel has gotten from other travelers - what are you all talking about ??? When we arrived, the hotel staff was right there + took our luggage right out of the taxi for us. Check-in took all of about 5 minutes. We were given an upgrade to the Bonaire Tower ( renovated w/in the last 2 years) by simply asking for a no-smoking room. From what I understand the Curacao Tower may not be in the best shape, we heard that from a couple of people that were staying in that tower. Fortunately where we were put was great - everything was in perfect working condition in the room, beds were comfortable, bathroom was perfectly clean - (no mold or dust anywhere as I've read before ?? ) We had plenty of hot water + clean linens supplied to us daily. The only small problem we had was the sink didnt drain so quickly, but no big deal- it eventually drained in time. Anything we ever asked for, we got right away with no hassles. All of the staff we encountered were always very friendly + helpful. The location was perfect, directly on the beach and in the middle of tons of shops/restaurants. As far as dining options I cant really comment because we didnt go all inclusive. We ate all of our meals outside the hotel because there were so many options available. I'd HIGHLY recommend the Argentinian restaurant Tango thats just a short walk up the road, the food was incredible + the value was the best we found on the entire strip ! They offer an incredible deal for 2 people on Chateau Briand (aka filet mignon) that is definitely worth looking into. All in all our stay at this hotel went perfectly smooth with no problems and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fabulous deal in a great location.
