Great Honeymoon

We were here for a week in January on our honeymoon and had a great time! Our room overlooked the adult pool with a partial ocean view, well worth the upgrade given the construction on the other side of the hotel. Staff was so nice and went out of their way to make our honeymoon special. The beach was clean, but busy with people everywhere. We enjoyed the Marriott being the last hotel on the beach so we could walk north away from the crowds, highly recommend this.

Pelican Pier- looks touristy on the outside, but actually has great food for a reasonable price and we've never seen a better sunset.

Highly recommend

Just got back from 6 day/5 night stay. Wonderful! Staff is professional & courteous. Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Pools/bars/restaurants/shops all clean and well staffed. I have never felt safer on any other island. One downside is that prices at the hotel are NYC prices. The Lobby Cafe is convenient but pricey and staffed with incompetent servers.

First time in Aruba and enjoyed it tremendously

Great hotel. Brand new "adult" pool [three weeks old] and it was amazing. Quiet. No bingo games, volleyball, kids or loud pounding music -- plug in your electronic device, or read, and you're good for the entire day. Staff mentioned that they are going to be piping in instrumental music soon but still too new. Pool service starting there at about 11AM. Otherwise, I booked Marriott since I've stayed there for years on business and know what I am getting. This hotel was very nice. We did not pay for a view but the Marriott rep upgraded us. . . eighty percent of the view was the under construction soon-to-be Ritz Carlton but twenty percent was sublime -- less is more -- and we were very grateful. The staff is accommodating and willing to please no matter what. See "Mergy" at the Waves beach grill for lunch, ALWAYS pleasant and happy to see and say hello to everyone. Breakfast on the beach at the La Vista Restaurant or cut your costs and eat at the indoor Lobby Cafe [coffee, great breakfast sandwiches made to order, oatmeal, or fruit, pastries - you get the idea, yogurt]. Lunch at the Wave beach cafe on the beach. Best calamari rings I've eaten in ages [had them 3 times during the week we were there]. Ate dinner mostly at the hotel zone about a 5 - 6 block walk from the Marriott Stellaris -- nice walk or the bellman can drive you in a golf cart across the 3 Marriott properties [but he doesn't drive on the city streets], overall taking the golf car cuts the walk down about 3 blocks. First time in Aruba and really enjoyed it -- however of note, it is very hot here. The sun was extremely intense but gorgeous skies and beaches. Enjoy. Safe travels. Help keep their beaches clean as the people make their living off tourists and also leave clean so that others may also enjoy the beauty.

Everything is listed in USD -- you can pay USD and get USD as change. I did a lot of research and for us, the best deal was mostly paying with USD. But, you do the math for your particular travel needs and how to maximize your travel funds. Windows and Aruba -- 5.0 / 5.0. Best meal on Aruba for us. Make reservations and save room for their desserts. Waves [beach cafe at Marriott Stellaris]. 4.0 / 5.0 Great lunches. Generous portions -- you can share and still be very satisfied and ready at dinnertime for an enjoyable evening. Salt and Pepper. 3.5 / 5.0. Decent tapas. Charged us for soda refills. Smokey Joe's. 3.0 / 5.0. Disappointing. This place packs them in, however -- we ordered a full rack of ribs and a Jamaican chicken dinner, our meals were served within THREE MINUTES -- TOPS. Chicken was dry and my husband only shrugged his shoulders when I asked about the ribs. Where I come from bbq takes a lot longer and tastes a lot better. Gianni's. 3.0 / 5.0. Have to say that the mixed salad here rocks. Best homemade salad dressing I've had in ages. Rissotto, very fair -- crunchy, very little fish in it. This place plugs 15% into your bill. Strange bill too, just a tape from "an old-fashioned" adding machine -- no line items. Just prices, so you have to recall what your dinners cost, drinks etc. Not very impressed with this place. Iguana Cantina 3.0 / 5.0 . Typical Mexican fare. Champions [sports bar inside the Marriott Stellaris]. 3.0 / 5.0. Nice grouper sandwich if you're too tired to go out on the first night in Aruba. Wanted to try but did not have time: Wacky Wahoos [endorsed by locals and tourists]; Madame Janette [similarly great reviews by locals and tourists]. Rented a car on one overcast day thinking that I could drive "and find" all the sites that the touring companies charge for and at the same time avoid the tourist trap stops. My logic was this is a small island, I drive in Chicago every day -- I driven in D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix. . . but there's signage in the U.S. There's little to NO signage on Aruba. Fun if you're in for an adventure and have a patient spouse. However, that being said, I think "historic" sites and tourist stops on Aruba are relative "interesting" concepts. The national park was about the most interesting. I would go back to Aruba in a heartbeat. Enjoy. Safe travels. Be kind.

Love everything about hotel except breakfast options. ( other than buffet which I had one day and was very impressed.) if u want a quick breakfast- it's best to take walk along the beach to Dunkin Donuts rather than eat the options available in lobby cafe.

Not Good!!!

Stayed here 2 years ago and booked it thru hotel. We had a great experience last time. The hotel treats you a little different when not booked through them. After declining 2 rooms...one recently smoked in and the other on ground level.. we ended up with a room that smelled and was above the kitchen. Loud noices all day and night. I was not very happy with my expeience this time. I think they only give online booking agents the worst rooms.

Marriott Stellaris

Great! Pretty. Clean. If you want to dine less expensively, eat at resaturants in the attached family hotel (Marriott Beach Resort). Breakfast is 1/2 the price of the Stellaris. Dinners and lunches are cheaper also, though you will have to deal with families.

Forget Ruth Chris - way too expensive. Take a short cab ride to Texas de Brazil and eat like king!! Wonderful selection of veggies, meats, desserts for far less than RC. Also, spare 90 min to go to timshare lecture (Don't sign up!) and receive $75 vouchers to be used at onsite and offsite restaurants, stores, activites. Using my vouchers I ate until my guts almost burst at TdB for only $8 (incl tip)! :-)
