A delightful old fashioned hotel,
A delightful old fashioned hotel, well located in the centre of the city, close to rail transport. With a 1928 opening date, the lounge, dining rooms & reception all take you back to a long gone era with magnificent high ceilings, ornate cornices and furniture of that time. The hotel building also houses the Masonic Lodge & information on the Masons can be found throughout the hotel. The bedrooms are very small & in the case of our room, needing some maintenance on the bathroom fittings. However, for the price and the location, it was quite adequate. The staff, while not necessarily of the same vintage as the hotel, were mature – and excelled in their customer service & friendliness. A good experience & frankly, a surprising one, for a hotel chosen purely on price & location.

Very convinient location, close
Very convinient location, close to hyde park. The room is quite small, but very cosy, and worth that price. Maybe will book again.

The hotel is charm but the room
The hotel is charm but the room very old, smell and is overpriced. The biggest issues in the hotel were the lack of AC & i can't slept because the AC fan very very noise at night.

The Hotel offers quality without
The Hotel offers quality without glitz. There are no restaurant facilities at weekends. The room was a bit crowded and the window appeared to look out onto a brick wall (frosted glass) so it is really only a "bed only" hotel with minimal extra facilities. Location is excellent and because it is small the staff are very attentive.

Overall was good. Designed to appeal to an older audience, though it was fine for me. Location was great for me. Mini bar prices were reasonable and the included free items (eg. teabags, shampoo, milk) were quality brands. Room was very small though.

Stayed for work and city2surf
Stayed for work and city2surf - Excellent staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great value and great location. Also provided a refresh area after the race and after runners had checked out.
