Good location but mediocre hotel

This hotel is historic or antiquated kind. The room size was barely enough to move around. i found this place very expensive for what i was offered. I would not recommend this place. Having said the hotel is located in the Sydney CBD which is a really great place to live while being in Sydney

not great but acceptable

harbour bridge opera house ferry rides round sydney harbour everything expensive, taxi, food, drink, careful using credit card extra fees applied on every purchase. see things you can't see anywhere else in the world. great barrier reef, koala's,just be prepared for long flight and pay 2x or 3x what you pay at home.best western hotel in cairns poor, formula one hotels nothing to write home about.

shocked, it's not a 4 star!

the previous reviews before I decided to get this hotel were so overrated...the lobby looks like a four star, but once you enter the room, you'll be disappointed. Yes, it's near some of Sydney's attraction, but once you get to your hotel after a long day's travel, you're so not looking forward to get a good night's rest and sleep. Room+bathroom are so tiny (considering that I myself is a petite person (under 5'), I find it so small! They need to refurbish the interior (like carpeting, bed mattress, etc).

4 star building, 2 star rooms

Old converted building. Bathroom tiny, noisy plumbing can hear water in adjacent rooms; only one window looking out of always-noisy airshaft, so no view and must be kept closed. Decent climate control. Decent wifi, which room card says must be paid for but they gave it to me free. Staff ranges from friendly to surly. Decent breakfast in stately dining room; did not try dinner. A bit hard to find as entrance is small and major sign says it is a masonic lodge. Location great for upscale shopping; 20 minute walk to Circular Quay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Bistro Papillion, on Clarence Street, about 10 minute walk. Classic French home cooking very well done with nice staff. Book ahead on busy nights.

Mixed bag

Great location, but very hard to find without exact address..... air conditioning did not work. Room adequate but bed small and tired. The hotel is struggling to stay up with the times.

Basic, no-frills hotel

This hotel is atop the Masonic Lodge and seems a bit of an afterthought. It's fine for a short stay, but not really suitable for more than 3-4 days. The room I stayed in was well-kept but small and didn't provide anywhere to store clothes. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is good; close to Museum station, and the downtown shopping district. And, for those who like to walk, within reach of Circular Quay, the Rocks, the Opera House, Darling Harbour and the clubs and bars on Oxford Street.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Don't pay for the in-house WiFi. I was on the eight floor, and could never get a good signal. The Starbucks across the street is cheaper and more reliable.

In the Heart of Sydney

The hotel room is quite clean, apart from a little bit of noise from the constrution site next to the Hotel during the day. Location is the best, with easy access to restarunts and shopping centers everywhere. There are buses at the door and a short walk to the Sydney Town Hall train station and a monorail near the Hotel. There is a free Sydney bus ( No.555 )going around the City,Harbour Ferrys, the Opera House etc.I think this is a good value for the price to stay in the heart of Sydney.

OK Hotel

Amazing location, however our sheets had a burn mark in them (although the hotel is non-smoking?), very small room but that was expected. Staff were friendly. Internet is not included and comes at a cost. The restaurant was not open for dinner. Very loud construction every morning starting before 7am.

The hotel is charm but the room

The hotel is charm but the room very old, smell and is overpriced. The biggest issues in the hotel were the lack of AC & i can't slept because the AC fan very very noise at night.

I don't understand how this hotel

I don't understand how this hotel has received such good scores. The room I had was extremely small, very dated and not that clean. Had real issue with the shower flooding the bathroom! Also room service is only available between 5pm and 9pm (or thereabouts) which is not good for business travellers. Given all that, I wouldn't say it was value for money. On the flipside the location is fantastic - easy to get around city and also find taxis.
