Central Railway Hotel is centrally located in Chalmers Street near Central Railway Station, the heart of Sydney's Transport System. The hotel is an ideal base from which to leisurely explore, or do business in Sydney. It is within minutes of the Central Business District, Circular Quay, Chinatown and within 15 minutes to Sydney's famous Beaches. Guests are offered friendly and personalized service in an informal atmosphere. Not Home away from hom

The hotel was disappointing. We stayed in Room 10 and the shower door was broken, the vanity drawer was broken and the handle in the drawer. It is hard for guests to pay money and put up with such sloppiness. The walk to the nearest Railway is 10-15 mins - on a hot day with cases that is difficult. The patrons do not run a pick up service as is stated. The hotel maids do a good job with such dilapidation.

near transportation

we arrived early, but they were able to put us in a room with different beds than requested (3 twins instead of double and twin). Room had refrigerator and microwave. Good location within easy walking distance to the Central Railway Station, but it is not right near it (as name seems to imply). room was clean; but the screen on the window was broken so we had some mosquitoes and flies when we opened the windows food available nearby, but not at the hotel

Sydney has wonderful public transportation and the hotel provides easy access to it. The city offers a variety of ticket options that include use of the buses, ferries and trams on single or multiple trips or daily or longer rates. The city transportation website also offers a trip planner with times (times not always accurate)

Good

The hotel was good for the price, short distance walk to the train station. The internet was available, but not free. The stuff was helpful.

Very helpful staff, convenient location, affordable

The room and bathroom were wonderful--and the location, only a few blocks from the Railway Station, was convenient. I'm not sure I'd have been comfortable walking from the train station to the hotel by myself late at night, though I did see single females walking there--I was happy to have my husband by my side. The staff was most helpful in terms of bus routes, inexpensive ways to tour the city, and other recommendations for tourists.
