Location-Excellent Employees-Pleasant and Friendly Rooms-Old and outdated-letter left in room was that all rooms have been outfitted with new flat screen TV's yet my room still has old TV Internet-$24.00 a day!!!! Breakfast-$35.00 Laundry-2 shirts/2 pants/1 t-shirt $70.00 Repairs needed in room? Upon checkin my old TV wasn't working had to call three times (once an hour) before someone showed up. When they showed up they had nothing with them. Took another hour to repair In the end the great location and freindly employees are noth worth the overall costs for the extra services and slow response to handle simple repairs to the room

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Eat Breakfast at one of the restaurants on the Harbor. You can mave a fresh cook to order breakfast with coffee sitting by the harbor for $12.00 versus $35.00 cold buffet breakfast at the hotel. Only a short 3 minute walk to the Harbor

Excellent location on busy Darling Harbo

Although we asked for a non-smoking room, we had to wait an hour while they went through the "final cleaning procedures" which we found out later on when we entered the room was the hotel's efforts to remove the smoke scent that lingered on from the previous occupant's smoking habits. They tried to disinfect with the most offensive-smelling spray that I had to call Front Desk holding my nose to prevent inhaling the smell. They moved us to another room 5 floors up which was fine except the toilet would not stop running after being flushed and although they tried to move us to another room at almost midnight, we declined that offer that night but moved the next morning to a room that smelled faintly of that disinfectant. I asked for the room to be aired and they sent up a small device that was plugged onto an outlet and since we were out most of the day, seemed to dissipate the unpleasant but faint smell by the time we got back at night. Check-in staff we dealt with were "OK" but not very welcoming(compared to hotels in Southeast Asia, but then this is Australia!), concierge, telephone staff, restaurant staff were good. After the 2nd transfer to another room, I spoke to the General Manager who graciously listened to what I had to say and offered to give us credit for the first nite but I opted for dinner at the restaurant instead. He met us that night and apologized for the inconvenience we went through. Overall, the hotel rooms(other than the smoking smell)were keptvery clean and were nicely furnished with damask cotton bed linens, ample bath towels and toiletries but we had a view of the building across the street, since we did not pay the extra charge for a harbour view. The location is excellent as the hotel is right on Darling Harbour with the Acquarium, Maritime Museum, lots of shopping and dining options, Coles supermarket, wine shops just across the bridge. The Little Red Snail across the bridge offered an excellent 3-course prix fixe dinner(40% less at lunchtime) but no bread is offered unless you order the ones listed on the menu and is charged extra. The buffets offered at the hotel were very good but pricey.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Several blocks down frm hotel is Chinatown with plenty of inexpensive food courts for a quick but excellent array of Chinese/Thai/Malaysian cuisine open til 10PM. Chinatown shops sell lots of souvenirs priced at least 30 to 50% less than the uptown George Street area(except Woolworths) but most close at 6 to 7PM. Woolworths, across from Town Hall, is the place to stock up on souvenir t-shirts/baseball caps and their basement supermarket is excellent for rotisserie chicken, water, baked goods, and other things you can stock up on if you do not want to pay top prices for meals at the hotel.

Good location for sightseeing in Sydney

Hotel location was good, hotel staff was fine and helpful, rooms were very small and we paid more for an upgraded room with a harbor view w/balcony(no balcony but harbor view was great), bathroom was tiny and needed a good cleaning around the tiles in the tub area which was also small. Rooms had very little storage space for your clothing. Hotel offered no traveler perks or airport pickup although the airport was only about 7 miles from the hotel. No fridge in the room only a high priced mini bar. No gift shop or convenience store in the hotel lobby. Internet was free only in lobby, (two hotel computers with worn out keyboard letters). Sheraton Hotel chain would not grant the award points because we booked the hotel thru [...].

OK

We loved the location of the hotel, but our room smelled like mold, and my husband got food poisoning, most likely from hotel food! Oh well, the food was delicious. Again, the location was fantastic.

Darling Harbour has lots of restaurants, shops, ferries, a museum and the aquarium. It's a great place to stay. We walked to the Botanical Gardens and the Opera House, which was a longer walk.

Recent Trip - January 2011

Four Points by Sheraton was conveniently located - it's actually on the opposite side of Darling Harbour - no hotels are actually on the wharf side. Full service hotel - room service and great concierge service that had answers to every question. Less than a 15 minute walk to downtown - very convenient.

The location of this hotel doesn't

The location of this hotel doesn't allow for parking facilities. In the pouring rain, I had to park my car in a general use carpark, then run across the road to book in. I was suprised that the parking wasn't complimentary. We usually stay at the Inter Continuental and they always comp our parking. After paying for parking ($72!!) they forgot to give me parking vouches so when I finally got to my car (after running across the road in pouring rain again!!!!) the car park attendants refused to allow us to leave as the receipt I had wasn't accepted. Dreadful experience - I will never return. When I complained to the reservations clerk, she was very unhelpful and told me to take it up with Hotel Manager who, as luck would have it, weren't available to talk to me.
