Great Southern Hotel Sydney Rooms
- Executive Room
- Executive Room (30 SQ MT). Either 2 single beds pushed & zipped together (Zip King) or 2 single beds. (Sofa bed is only made when 3 paxs). No Scenic Views. The room has a separate bedroom to the small living area with a private ensuite.
- Standard Queen Room
- All Queen Standard rooms are non smoking rooms. Rooms are 15 sqm. Rooms have private bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, television, telephone, air conditioner, Pay per view movies, refrigerator, broadband access, hairdryer, safe deposit box and iron & ironing board. Bedding consists of Standard Run of House Queen or Zip King (2 single beds pushed and zipped together) Room .
- Standard Twin Room
- All Twin Standard rooms are non smoking rooms. Rooms have private bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, television, telephone, air conditioner, Pay per view movies, refrigerator, broadband access, hairdryer, safe deposit box and iron & ironing board. Bedding consists of 2 x Single Beds.

Comfortable
The Great Southern Hotel earn's an overall rating of 3 out of 5. It was comfortable, but nothing special. I didn't have room/maid service (apparently you have to pay an extra $20/day for this). The room was clean. Bed was comfortable.

Will Stay Somewhere Else Next Time
The Staff was not friendly. The room was small. There was a roach on the bathroom floor 2 nights and bugs in the shower on our last day. The pillows and mattress were well worn. You have to pay for any wi-fi, and safe use. Breakfast was expensive. The elevator was slow.

Conveniently located in downtown Sydney, close to trains, buses and Chinatown. Beautiful old building with nicely conserved Art Deco interior. Amazingly quiet considering its location, with good natural light. Our room was small but had everything. Our only complaint was the charges for extras like internet and phone calls.

Short Stay in Sydney
The Great Southern Hotel had a great location for those that are looking to get around the city as well as its suburbs (close to central station). The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The down sides to this hotel was the access to internet (there was no WiFi, only wired connections to pay for in your room) and they charge you for bag storage $2. Regarding WiFi, there are a couple of ways to get on to the internet, there is a restaurant attached to the hotel, if you purchase something they will give 30 min and some other options around the city. The bathroom also only had a bottle of shampoo/conditioner combo and bath and body soap. Not a big deal but if you need anything else, there were plenty of convenience stores in the area. Another good thing was they offered self-laundry.

Great location, even better price
The number one reason to choose this hotel is for its location. Located in a busy/bustling section of Sydney, walking distance to everything. The room was basic, but clean. The check-in process is fine. The hotel bar has a very good selection of food and wine with sidewalk seating.

I've stayed here before and would stay here again. On this occasion we were going to the Capitol Theatre so that was convenient and my granddaughter had an early flight next morning so we were close to the train to the airport. I live out of Sudney and travel in and out by train so it is good for me too. No compaints at all.

Overall a great place to stay.
Overall a great place to stay. Location was great and easy walking distance to most places in the CBD. A bus stop at the front door made getting further a breeze. The only down side was a lump in the bed.
