Great Southern Hotel Sydney is a heritage-listed hotel ideal for business or holiday travellers seeking convenience and comfort in the heart of Sydney's vibrant theatre and entertainment precinct. Location Great Southern Hotel Sydney is positioned opposite Central Railway Station in the heart of downtown Sydney and only a short walk to Darling Harbour, Chinatown, major theatres, shops and Sydney Entertainment Centre. Porterage service is not available, however luggage storage is available at a cost of $2 per bag per day. Additional 2% administration fee applies when making payment via credit card to settle incidentals during check out. Rooms All Standard rooms are 15sqm, smoke free (NO SMOKING OR COOKING OR ANY FORM OF SMOKE.) with private bathrooms. Rooms consist of Queen, Zip King or 2 single beds (Twin). When booking a queen room, the room can either be a Queen Bed or a King Zip Bed (Run of House which means that the Hotel will allocate bedding configuration whatever is available on that day either Queen Bed or Zip King Bed which are 2 single beds pushed together then zipped) If you require a Queen Bed, please inform reception and we will try our best to room move you to another room the following day if there is available queen bed (no guarantee). No refunds or any compensation given if not happy with Zip King Bed. STRICT NO PARTY POLICY!!! Restaurant The on-site restaurant has a seating capacity of 90 guests and offers you a variety of local and international dishes. General The meeting room can host any type of events or conferences for up to a maximum of 110 guests. Moreover, in addition to the hotel's own internet kiosk, an array of entertainment in Chinatown, Darling Harbour and Cocklebay wharf are just minutes away.

Bedding consists of Standard Run of House Queen or Zip King (2 single beds pushed and zipped together) Room .

Great location, even better price

The number one reason to choose this hotel is for its location. Located in a busy/bustling section of Sydney, walking distance to everything. The room was basic, but clean. The check-in process is fine. The hotel bar has a very good selection of food and wine with sidewalk seating.

I've stayed here before and would

I've stayed here before and would stay here again. On this occasion we were going to the Capitol Theatre so that was convenient and my granddaughter had an early flight next morning so we were close to the train to the airport. I live out of Sudney and travel in and out by train so it is good for me too. No compaints at all.

Front Desk Staff were very friendly

Overall a great place to stay.

Overall a great place to stay. Location was great and easy walking distance to most places in the CBD. A bus stop at the front door made getting further a breeze. The only down side was a lump in the bed.

We loved this hotel because it

We loved this hotel because it had bags of character - art deco and lots of original features, so nice after staying in modern hotels that have no personality. The staff were friendly and obliging, the room comfortable and clean with everything we needed and more. We booked an internal room thinking it would have no window but it was facing the internal atrium so was nice and quiet despite being in the city centre. A great place from where to explore Sydney.
