Rendezvous Hotel Brisbane Anzac Square

Paid four days in advance no refund so could not leave.In superb heritage building .Remainder not acceptable. Closing mechanism had been removed from the windows and they would not remain shut. Glass was broken and it was noisy. Shower water was warm at best and I had to boil a jug each day to get decent shave. Breakfast was luke warm and on cold plates. Do not eat there. Bedroom rediculously small with only18"space around bed. As the sliding door was across the corner and touching the bed we had to open the door in order to get around the bed. When checking in we were assured this was one of their best rooms. Superb location.

I booked late and got the the last (and I imagine worst)room in the hotel. I thought at $465 it was way overpriced. Curtains closed because the windows opened on to a very ugly view. Not a single treat (eg a free news paper, a peice of fruit, a deluxe tea bag, some good coffee, a chocolate on the pillow) provided - nothing!. Not enough staff on in the morning to deal with checkout - causing a delay. All in all an underwhelming experience. I would be very happy for my comment to be passed on to the hotel in questions to help them to improve their service.

Great location however service was sadly lacking. upon arriving at the hotel, reception was quite busy and as such the staff were flustered and quite rude and abrupt. On the last morning of my stay, early around 7.00am, housekeeping wallked right on into my room - no knocking - just straight in. They should be aware I had not yet checked out, or at least knock if unsure!! I told reception of the housekeepers coming in and they didn't care.

The hotel was perfect for staying in downtown Brisbane. It was right across the street from the train station and in the lobby had the times for the next train back to the airport so you could estimate when you should WALK ACROSS THE STREET and hop on your train. You didn't have to lug your luggage and the hotel held our luggage while we took a two day trip to Cairns and then came back to Brisbane so we could just pack a smaller carry-on bag. It is right next to ANZAC Square which is a memorial park to veterans and one block from the Queen Street Mall and Adaleaide Street which is where all the bus stops are. It was only a 10-15 minute walk to the ferry. I am 52 so it took me more time to walk, 15-20 but i walk slow.

Dark room, barely any daylight, tiny window. Wifi router 10 cm next to bed

The room was ok high cealing which is nice but it was very noisy to the point that wake me up several times. i believe it was the air conditioner unit.

Staff were not very friendly at all. Which is very surprising, given that I have stayed at this establishment numerous times over the last 6 years. I think it must have new managment.

We only stayed one night - in a hotel room on the ground floor. There was a major event on in Brisbane that night, and many hotels had raised their prices. By comparison, the Rendezvous was very good value for money. The room had a fridge and microwave (good) but the TV seemed to be stuck on one channel. The tiled floor would be great in summer, but was not perhaps so well suited to winter. The room window looked out into a rectangular central 'space' - bounded by the other three 'inner' sides of the building - so curtains remained closed. Lots of lights in the room - but the overall effect was a little dark. Overall, it was fine for our short stay - but I'm not so sure about staying for a longer period.

Hotel very close to station and business district. Hotel is like many old European hotels. No swimming pool. Very noisy aircon. Not my choice for future stays but some like the old fashioned type of place.
