Could Not Be Happier
Everything at the Holiday Inn Cairns was amazing. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, and treated us amazingly well. We were especially pleased with the quality of the front-desk staff. The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. The King-size bed gave us a great night's sleep. The location is amazing, right on the esplanade, a very easy walk to the lagoon, and the hotel lends great beach towels for use on the lagoon or on day trips to other places. We also had a great experience at the tour desk, our trip was cancelled, and the woman at the desk was able to re-book us immediately to see the rainforest that day. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Nice hotel close to town center
Nice hotel, nice location, nice staff. Stayed there before and after a live-aboard dive trip. Short walk to good places to eat and shop.

Loved it here!
I stayed at the holiday inn cairns the scone week of April 2011. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door! The room was very nice and spacious. It was only me and a friend and we each got a queen size bed and the room wasn't cramped at all. The windows go from the ceiling to the floor and we had a great view of the sunset behind the mountains every night. It is very conveniently located! Takes only a few minutes to get to shops and restaurants and the lagoon, which was beautiful but too crowded for us- we preferred the tranquility of the hotel's pool. Another great thing was Sue at the travel desk.. She helped us out with booking our activities and she is so funny! The staff was very nice. Internet In The lobby was also helpful. The woolworths in walking distance (across from the courtyard with 3.50 coronas all day!) was useful for buying breakfast items and water to keep in the room. Overall I would definetely recommend this hotel!

Centrally located, helpful, friendly
The hotel is located minutes walking to shops and restaurants, yet very quite. The staff aimed to please. I wasn't sure if breakfast was included and inquired. They gave me a full breakfast although I am still not certain if it was really included.

The position is very central and within walking distance to restuarants along the Esplenade. Rooms are large, clean and staff very helpful. Free Wi-Fi should however be included in this price as most overseas hotels include this as standard.

I went down to book a table at
I went down to book a table at the restuarant and asked for the bottom section as Dad has to use a walking frame.. No problem.. Organised for the al acarte menu as obviously Dad can't get up & down to the buffet.. Only to be told on arrival that we can't have it.. Only the buffet.. After a discussion they gave us a limited menu to pick from.. not impressed especially as they were taking room serie orders from the extesive menu??? The service in the restaurant was very poor.. We had to organise our own drinks, no glasses were cleared.. it was like we didn't exist. I also feel that when I use (website) I end up with the worst located room.. for the 3rd time I have been in the room next to the lift.. and my view was the roof of the driveway entrance
