Had a wonderful stay at By the Sea Port Douglas.. we were upgraded to a suite that had everything we needed... kitchenette and laundry facilities in the room (although the washer/dryer was a challenge to operate).. great location 100 yards from the beach.. the hotel staff were delightful and very helpful.. They provided bicycles, beach towels, ice and excellent advice on dining and sightseeing. They have recently renovated the hotel so it had a new feel to it and was clean and pretty. Wifi in the room worked great. Loved it.

Everything you have read about this hotel is true - kudos to the staff. Without the girls, my stay in Port Douglas would not have been as memorable. Sure there are fancier places but you cannot beat the service, location or value! If returning to this area I would stay here without question!

this is a beautiful hotel with spacious facilities and great location. Our Garden room was secluded, quiet and more than adequate. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. I would certainly recommend it to all my friends

Great hotel, loved the 5 acre lagoon style pool, buffet breakfast was great (as it was included), rooms were very clean. Service left a bit to be desired, surely a 5 tick (not star) restaurant could provide fresh milk for tea in the room, when I called they were willing to charge for this service.

Our first room was quite small for a 2BR and loctaed over the garage, but staff were excellent in finding us and moving us to a much better room when we requested a change of rooms.

A little more attention to maintenance

A little more attention to maintenance would benefit the motel eg a few dead pot plants on my balcony and a loose tap in the bathroom. However when these items were pointed out to management swift action was taken. Would also recommend not to stay in the apartments directly above the restaurant as it was quite noisey when the restaurant was packing up after service eg doors banging, furniture being moved, bottles being thrown in the bin, the dishwasher operating etc. Overall still an enjoyable stay despite these issues.

Great location right in the middle of the main street yet so quiet felt like we were miles away in a rainforest. Great rooms big bed and spa and so cool. Fans out on balcony a bonus. Lap pool great for swimming and beach just 2 minutes away. Will definately stay again.

We had an excellent stay at the Shantara and will be staying again when in Port Douglas. We stayed in a pool deck apartment which was well equipped and was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and arriving after hours was no problem. It is well situated, close to main street and beach - only a short walk to both.

The Meridian Port Douglas is a quiet all adult hotel close to the main street of Port Douglas. Had a standard bachelor room overlooking the pool which I would recommend requesting otherwise there are rooms that overlook Davidson St. a busy through street. Rooms are smaller than appearing in photos but are adequate. We made most of our meals or had take away so another time might consider a larger room with a more complete kitchen.
Housekeeping is not provided unless staying at least a week and enough shampoo and soap are provided for one day only. This is an inconvenience for international travellers like ourselves who face restrictions on weight and liquids. Laundry is available and a nice feature.
Port Douglas is a small town catering to the tourists and there are many excursions by many different companies being offered. We chose to snorkel with Calypso and tour the Daintree Rainforest with the Daintree Discovery tour through
Tropical Journeys since both of these excursions were small and able to give attention to the individual.

Excellent facility oin a handy location. Staff very helpful and attentive. Encountred one small problem due to the microwave oven not being cleaned after previous guest, who had left fish pies in oven which had become mouldy and smelly.

It is a beautiful hotel but was really cleaned very well. The floor in the room was sticky as if it had not been mopped with a clean mop. The bath also had old hair and scum in it which I was pretty surprised to see as the rest of the hotel was presented well. Although the restaurant was very poorly staffed and tables were not cleaned from the night before when we were having breakfast at 10am. There was food on the floor as well from the night before.

Absoutely faultless! The staff were so friendly and helpful it was refreshing. Superb accommodation, excellently equipped - even down to the thoughtful inclusion of a tupperware style box (how often on holiday do you open some food item and wish you had something to store it in in the fridge??)
Also a superb, central location - convenient yet very quiet.

Freestyle is a lovely purpose built holiday condo, with a great relaxed friendly atmosphere. [...] and [...] make you very welcome, and couldn't be more helpful. the apartment was modern, well furnished and spotless, with a balcony overlooking the pool. therewas a good range of kitchen equipment, which was a good job as we couldn't afford Port Douglas restaurant prices every night! if you are looking for self catering accommodation within easy walking distance of Port Douglas centre, at a reasonable rate, it's hard to fault Freestyle. had a great time.

Overall pleased with my stay, excellent location. Could improve on insect control, was not impressed with ants (a lot) crawling on our bed and outdoor spa with dead bugs hanging around. I would stay again just for the location.

Disappointed that I requested a queen bed and received 2 single beds pushed together of which they were varying heights so there was a ridge in the middle of the bed. It made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.
Also dissapointed to be put in a room near the rubbish and laundry diposal. I stayed 4 nights and was woken EVERY morning at 7:15am by rubbish collectors. Not a very restful or relaxing stay.
Bit poor that you have to pay for extra tea, coffee, sugar etc.

Peppers is a beautiful resort, very centrally located in the Port Douglas CBD area and a short walk to the beach. We are locals are were very impressed. We didnt get to spend a lot of time there as we stayed in town for a function, but the pool is beautiful and we had brekky in the morning which was great and the staff were all more than helpful. Recommend it.

The only let down was that it was abit further out of Port Douglas. Although the bus shuttle comes convientely past the hotel every 15mins.

Pools were fantastic although we only used the one closest to our villa.
Two bedroom standard villa was great with flat screen TV and DVD player. Fridge and dishwasher were not late models but worked so no complaints.
Grounds were extensive and well maintained.
With a car the location was perfect. Relying on a bus would have been more difficult as resort was on way out of town with a fair hike into the centre.

We can comfortably accommodate six people in the 3 bedroom apartments.. We have a fully equipped Tour Desk providing information and tour bookings you may require at no additional cost. Damian ad Tania are great hosts. Their knowledge of the area really helped us make decisions on what tours to go on and what we should see on our own.
The condos are each individually owned so each persons experience will be different. Our unit was very clean, but could use an update. For a really great price you get either a 2 or 3 bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms. Definitively would stay again. The owners/managers are in the process of updating the property.
My only complaint is even though you are very close to the beach you have to walk a ways down the road for beach access. The beach walks were amazing.

The rooms have everything with a balcony and cooking facilities. They are not fancy but excellent value. The swimming pool is small but fine. The general ambience is extremely comfortable.
It is right in the centre of the town.
