Shabby Everything

First off..we are from the USA living in Auckland NZ..Our standards may just be higher..the halls of this hotel smelled of mold and the walls were dark with marks and some doors looked like they had been prayed open! The room was tiny! The airconditioning required a manual to operate and then poured water out on the floor every night! The television was a 19 inch CRT that flickered and couldn't be turned on or off from the remote. The mini bar had three drinks in it and was a dirty old dorm room fridge. If this is four star ..OMG! We were very charitable giving it two stars...oh..there was a nice pool outside!

Not bad choice

The room is OK,not small, and clean enough. Close to those 2 Parks, good view and air. But less restaurant and shop around. On the St.Kilda Rd there are many buses to the down town,Queen Victoria Market and China town. The price is good for the backpacker, family tourist.

Clean and good loation

Near city. Pleasant and clean although internet was not included in the room and did not work once we paid for it either. Had to use business office, and then decided to find internet cafes. Inconvenient in that respect. We needed two rooms. While one was good, the other was next to the service elevator and the noise was noticeable.

First Night In Melbourne

The hotel is in a great location. There is a nice park across the street and the tram is a block away. There are a variety of restaurants in walking distance. The amenities at the hotel are pretty good. The gym could use an upgrade on the equipment. There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel that seemed nice though I did not use either of them. The staff was efficient though they did not seem overly friendly. I would recommend it to a friend.

Bayview Experience

The hotel was further out from the city centre than I realised although that was my fault for not researching it more thoroughly. Having said that, it was only 200 meters or so from a tram line and about 6 different trams run into the city. The hotel was OK but a little 'tired looking' I thought. On the second day, one of the two lifts broke down and wasn't fixed during the rest of my 6 night stay. All in all, it was reasonable value (compared with other hotels I researched). I didn't use the restaurant so cannot comment on that aspect as I tended to eat at different cafes and restaurants in the city.

Visit the Queen Victoria Market to the north of the city centre - lots of good value items to be had.
