Situated on St Kilda Road this

Situated on St Kilda Road this back-packer hotel has lots to offer the young traveller: music (free loan guitars), BBQ on some nights, free sausage sizzles, TV room (sound-proofed!!!) and off-street parking. They have both normal serviced rooms, as well as dormatory style rooms, more suited to young travellers. Rates are excellent too (about $85 a night in mid-2011 for a double room with on-suite bath). Restaurants are close at St Kilda Beach, or ride one of the three Restaurant Trams that operate on weekends. Food is not permitted in rooms (which helps to keep them very clean) but you can use the communal kitchen and dining room... and breakfast is FREE! You just have to get it yourself. I have stayed here on three occasions in the last three years and have enjoyed it every time. The lounge area is very busy and noisy at night and is a great place for 20-something year old travellers to meet. I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Melbourne.

After a slight glitch with the actual booking, which wasn't their fault and was made up for in several ways, the staff, venue, facilities and guests were all tops. It is a laid back venue that is clean, fun and friendly with different events on each day. I am more than happy to recommend it to anyone

I stayed here because it was convenient

I stayed here because it was convenient for a wedding I was attending in Melbourne, not as a backpacker. However, our room was large, had an ensuite and TV and the added bonus was the great atmosphere provided by lots of young travellers from all over the world. We have been to hostels when travelling and I would thoroughly recommend this one to anyone staying in Melbourne. Fantastic staff who went out of their way to help their guests despite being extremely busy most of the time. I just wish I could have gone on the Party Bus on the Saturday night!

I had a nice clean, private room

I had a nice clean, private room in this busy hostel. Staff could not have been better - friendly and going out of their way to be helpful. It is close to local shops and only a few minutes walk to the St. Kilda beach. All in all I was very pleased with my stay and would recommend the private rooms to others.

This is by far the best hostel

This is by far the best hostel we have stayed in. The bedrooms were clean and quiet, only one minor complaint, the TV is not very well placed (too high to view comfortably when seated) but a small problem. The kitchen facilities were excellent and very clean (everyone whilst we were there did the right thing cleaning and washing dishes, utensils and the tables. Friendly and courteous staff and we were treated equally despite being Senior Citizens in a predominantly youthful environment. Would definitely stay there again.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel was clean and inviting and the safety measures they have set up are incredible. A great place to stay, hang out or to use as a sleep place before you head out in to St Kilda. I'm definitely going back there again.

Pretty good hostel its a little

Pretty good hostel its a little out of town and sits right on the nepean but surprisingly not noisy at all.. staff were great, price was very good and facilities were fine.. though maybe one suggestion is that they have a dedicated TV and DVD room and not have it in the communal area.. most top quality hostels pick up on this and do it..
