It's about a 25 minute walk from this hotel to the center of Salsburg,it's a doable walk, but it is a walk. The return walk seemed longer than our walk to town, we like things a bit closer to the activity.

We were traveling through Paris & Austria, and after two disappointing experiences with hotels, the Radisson Blu in Salzburg Austria was a god send - so much so that we broke our plans and stayed an extra night. If you are looking to be pampered and treated well, and if you don't mind walking or biking to the center of town, then, this is the place for you. It's not in the heart of the city, but it is near the Metro, buses and Salzburg's major train station. It was perfect for us since we were traveling back to Vienna and 3 blocks from the train. It's about 5 blocks from the River, and about a 20 minute walk from the heart of the city - WE LOVED IT! If you are looking for tiny, quainte, old world charm with challenging ammenities then this hotel is NOT for you - this hotel is refreshing and modern, clean and spacious. The consierge and receptionists were delightful and helpful. Just what we needed - and within our budget.

This was a lovely hotel with excellent service a very friendly and helpful staff.The single room i stayed in was large, clean and the tv had many, many channels (no snow) to choose from even a sound of music channel!! The location cannot be beat- it is within minutes (walking) of everything on your do- to list. just a block away there is a small grocery store and around the corner there are cafes, shops and the wonderful dm store for when you run out toiletries. i highly recommend this hotel to everyone and i will certain book here again.

It was a good stay. The staff were quite helpful, attentive and friendly. The bar and breakfast are ample and inviting. The location is great. My needs were both met and anticipated. The room-cleaning/provision was basic, I get the feeling corners were cut in this area, but overall I'd recommend this hotel to anyone, whether for business or pleasure oriented travel. Also, for 3 nights, including breakfast and mini-bar helpings, the price was unbeatable (especially compared to some of the larger multinational hotels).

This hotel has an ambience that makes you feel like you are indeed in the very best of Salzburg Hotels and feel like Royalty, the staff are very friendly and also the breakfast is excellent and don't miss the Sacher Torte. The quality generally is par excellence, the location is almost perfect for Salzburg within easy walking distance of town ( about 3-5 minutes) , buses and also a nice walk along the river. We stayed in the rooms not facing the river but on the upper floors where it was quiet, the beds were excellent and quality of linen was good. My wife and I had a delightful time, did look like being in the Sound of Music city.

Walking distance from the train station and to the Old city. Nice wellness area with a gym, a small pool, a sauna and a steam room open until 11PM. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but overall it's a great deal.

We spent four wonderful days in Salzburg and enjoyed our accommodations almost as much as the city itself. The rooms were clean, nicely appointed and what you would expect. The staff was very, very helpful and the breakfast very nice. We had great connections to two bus lines, as well, which was a huge plus since the Altstadt is a bit of a walk.

食事がすばらしい。朝もパンがおいしい。サービスの点で言うと、夕食をレストランでしようとした日に突然の嵐、ガーデンにほぼ満席でいたお客は大慌てで室内レストランに。当然のことだし、突然のハプニングだからやむをえないことではあれ、ウェイターがお客をさばくのに少し丁寧さを失ったのが残念。たまたまその時間に室内レストランを訪れた客が後回しにされ、怒って帰った人たちもいました。わたしたちはどうせ食事したら部屋に戻るだけなので、じっとまっていました。ようやく落ち着いてきた頃食事をはじめましたが、そこでのウェイターの接客態度は落ち着き、フレンドリーなものに戻っていただけに、ピンチにこそ平素の接客を忘れないでと言っておきましょう。

We had a good time. the hotelwas within walking of a lot of attractions, buses are near by and go just about everywhere, taxi are only minutes away and the fair is very reasonable.Mineral water is their water you have to ask for tap water and you have to ask for ice, they are more than happy to get it for you but you do have to ask. Be prepared for a different breakfast, if you want eggs you have to ask and then it may only be an omlet.

When we got to the Hotel they only had 10 parking spaces and they were all taken. Then they charged us for internet. Finally the hotel was on a busy road and it was very loud. I would keep looking.

The hotel was lovely. Haven't been to any nicer fitness facilities at a hotel anywhere. The room was comfortable, pretty and clean. The staff lovely. That said, the bathroom, though nice, was a bit dangerous. Slick tile everywhere and a big step out of and into the tub. The Sheraton Salzburg is a wonderful hotel. It is located on the edge of the Mirabell Garden. Old town was just a quick (and easy) 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel helped us with reservations to the Mozart Dinner Concert, The Panoramic Eagle's Nest and Sound of Music tours. The Mirabell Restaurant located in the hotel serves wonderful Austrian meals and wine. The front desk upgraded our room because of our Starwood Gold status. The room was very large and comfortable.

Description
The historical Hotel Goldener Hirsch building, first documented in 1407, assumed a public role when it opened as an inn, the G?ldener Hirsch in 1564---a time when the Salzburg's population numbered just 5,000.
The city began its ascend with the rise of Mozart, who was born a minute's walk from the Hotel Goldener Hirsch in 1756. In 1920, it declared itself a leader of the international music and drama scene by introducing the Salzburg Festival, which has become a city institution and global attraction.
The Hotel Goldener Hirsch was established as the festival's premier residence following its purchase in 1939 by Countess Harriet Walderdorff. After World War II, Countess Walderdorff began her quest to refurbish the interior with simple and contemporary decor, creating a country residence in the city center.
In contrast to the overt extravagance of Salzburg at that time, Countess Walderdorff opted for indigenous Austrian furniture and antiques, replacing Persian carpets with traditional rag rugs. Boasting a new pink exterior, the hotel re-opened on April 29, 1948. Its casual yet sophisticated style soon became the model for Western Austrian hotels.
Nicknamed ?The Golden Stag?, the Hotel Goldener Hirsch has become the home-away-from-home to the Salzburg Festival's most prominent stars as well as international celebrities ranging from Elizabeth Taylor and Pavarotti to the Rothschilds, Gettys, and the Prince of Wales. American ex-president Richard Nixon personally wrote to Countess Walderdorff to thank her for the hotel's supreme hospitality.
Little has changed since Countess Walderdorff purchased the hotel; the facades of the original and adjoining building---acquired in the 1970s---remain simple and the interior elegantly eclectic. Guests marvel at the carefully acquired decor: a painting, a wooden sculpture, a bar constructed from an antique trunk. A perfectly charming hotel located exactly where you want to be in Salzburg. Do plan on eating breakfast out as the buffet was 32 euros! There is a nice, smoke-free cafe near Alt Salzburg hotel that offers more than rolls for a reasonable price.

The Golden Hirsch is probably one of the greatest experiences to have while in Salzburg. It has an amazing heritage and authentic Austrian comfort that is uber luxury without it being too stylised and over the top. The rooms are absolutely the best in a 5 star league, staff attentiveness par excellence, and location on one of the best streets in the Old Town. I do not want to say more or I will be giving away one of the best secrets of Salzburg. It will be my regular place to stay when ever I visit Salzburg again.

The staff was superior from the early morning shift to the late night shift. When we stayed at the Austrian Classic Hotel we took the bus to Salzburg every day. It was a very easy connection to the bus. The food was very good at the hotel restaurant. At the end of our stay, we found that the cemetery behind the hotel is a beautiful flower garden. We had difficulty with our computer, but we were able to use the computer in the reception area. We were also able to get wonderful directions to our next destinations--excellent service!!

The hotel is a short walk (about 10 minutes) from the train station, and near the river. It's a nice walk along the river to downtown Salzburg. There are three bus lines that run in front of, or near, the hotel. Not in the heart of the city, but still very convenient and accessable.
The hotel is nice, the desk staff all spoke English, and were helpful and friendly. Our only real complaint was that there wasn't any air conditioning, although a fan was provided (very helpful). We did not try the hotel breakfast (10 euros per person). Free (wired) internet was very much appreciated.
We would definitely consider staying at the Belmondo again.

It is relatively far from train station- more then 2km especially, if you have a suitcase. We were there on a hot day - 35c and there was no airconditioner in the hotel. Shower place is small eventhough the bethroom size is ok.

L'hotel è comodissimo e vicino al centro senza essere nel centro (ztl). Con noi sono stati molto fiscali sull'orario di ingresso (ore 15) a parte questo è pulito, confortevole e spazioso, comodo il parcheggio a pagamento. Consigliato per chi va in auto.

Charming Boutique style hotel in the heart of Salzburg. Its friendly and welcoming staff and attentive service provide all guests an experience they will never forget.The Auersperg's special features are its quiet, romantic garden, sauna and steambath and its rooftop sun terrace, with a marvellous view over the city. The Hotel consists of the main building with 32 rooms and the directly adjacent Villa Auersperg with 23 rooms (All our rooms are non-smoking). The Villa Auersperg has the character of a town villa and was build at the turn of the century and has been completely renovated from January to May 2009. All 23 Villa rooms are in a completly new design with high standards (espresso machine, tea-making facilities,..).

Friendly helpful staff, a little modern style in the decor, relaxing private garden, good location, comfortable bed and they mix a good martini. Nothing to complain about at the Auersperg and I will stay again very happily.

Stayed here while on spring break trip with my college age son and we both found it great for our needs. Location nice, easy walk to lots of restaurants, quiet street location, close by bus stop. Also <10 minute walk to oldest parts of Salzburg across the river. Bathroom relatively good sized for Europe - split into two different rooms, one with shower/bath and sink basin with mirror, one with toilet and sink basin/mirror. Very comfortable room with nice sitting area with couch and chair. Easy complimentary internet access. Accommodating staff with very good English language skills. Very good breakfast with the room, similar too many good small hotels in Austria. Has outside walled -in, shaded garden courtyard area that many rooms look out over and which can be used by guests. Would be fine for business traveler as well as vacationers, good for couples. I would return.

Very nice hotel,3 minutes away by foot from the Dom platz,in a charming old world setting.Very friendly and helpful staff.Good breakfast.easy and inexpensive hotel parking.only word of caution:dont try finding it by GPS,it wont get you there,

This review and ratings are for the hotel that we were moved to due to room construction. We were completely happy with the upgrade. Better location, better staff, GREAT Breakfast. We will be staying at the new hotel when we return to Salzburg.

This hotel was in a great walking location from the main train station. Also, it cost about 13 euros from the airport. Our room with 3 single beds was excellent with lots of space, a balcony and very quiet. Breakfast was very adequate for all of us. There were many small cafes and restaurants within about 4-5 blocks. The Sound of Music Bus Tour was excellent and worth its 32 euros (bring Rick Steves' book for a 5 euro discount) and 4 hours of history, beauty and the Lake areas. Remember, stores are mostly closed in the evenings and Sundays.
