Atel Hotel Lasserhof Salzburg

Location was a bit further from the center than we expected from the description. Breakfast was good. Staff were fine. Room was a bit of a disappointment, when were those pictures taken??

This review and ratings are for the hotel that we were moved to due to room construction. We were completely happy with the upgrade. Better location, better staff, GREAT Breakfast. We will be staying at the new hotel when we return to Salzburg.

The location is quite good in relation to downtown Salzburg and the train station. It is a basic hotel with no amenities. Our room was cleaned the first day. The second day they came to clean it, but we were in it at the time, and they never came back. The third day it never got cleaned. I talked to the manager and he was very nice to deal with. He made a very acceptable adjustment to the room price and this was very much appreicated. He apologized several times. The breakfast was excellent and the staff seemed very good. The hotel is a little older and could use some updating.

Room was clean but not particularly nice. Distance was OK - everything was walking distance - but too far for anybody with disabilities. No air conditioning. Bedding was cheap. Desk staff were terse, uncommunicative and bordering on rude. They say they have wifi - but they don't. When you ask about it, they shrug. But they're happy to say they have it and include that in the way too high price you pay for the room. The breakfast was there and edible - but not of good quality. I think if you read the reviews and their response to negative reviews - how argumentative, rude, and sometimes just plain contradictory they are -- you can get a good sense of how they feel about their customers. This review would be kinder if the prices were better.

This hotel was in a great walking location from the main train station. Also, it cost about 13 euros from the airport. Our room with 3 single beds was excellent with lots of space, a balcony and very quiet. Breakfast was very adequate for all of us. There were many small cafes and restaurants within about 4-5 blocks. The Sound of Music Bus Tour was excellent and worth its 32 euros (bring Rick Steves' book for a 5 euro discount) and 4 hours of history, beauty and the Lake areas. Remember, stores are mostly closed in the evenings and Sundays.

My visit to Salzburg I am afraid has spoiled me for some time to come. The city is enchanting, welcoming and very friendly. My stay at the Atel Hotel Lasserhof Salzburg was also all of those things. The room was a pleasant surprize in the layout and comfort. The bed was just right and the bedding was like being wrapped in fluff! The service was always gracious and accommodating. The continental breakfast every morning was fresh, delicious and had a huge variety of wonderful food. The hotel itself was located within a 10-20 minute walk to great sights and shops. Old Town was especially remarkable. The train and bus station was about a 10 minute easy walk. Everything was very convenient. I have traveled mostly in the continental US and Hawai'i, staying in different types of hotels and locations. This is absolutely one of the very best experiences I have had.

The location is fine, but the rooms are not very nice. Just a typical small European hotel.

The hotel was neat and clean. The staff was very helpful and freindly. It met all our needs. I would stay there again.

Room was small but very comfortable, within walking distance to everything important and a fantastic breakfast for a great price.

Excellent location with rail station, city centre and major sights all with-in walking distance. Very good breakfast included in very reasonable price. Good size, well appointed room and although no tea-making facility in room tea/coffee with biscuits/cakes were quickly supplied when requested. Very friendly and helpful staff, giving us great assistance in organising next part of vacation. Free internet a bonus.
