Short walk from hotel
Go out of Hotel and turn left and about 15 minutes later you are right in the heart of Salzburg with all the shopping and resturants. 10 min bus ride from train station $ euro each person or 25 Euro cab ride - take the bus much easier

You get what you pay for.
The hotel is a solid 15 minute walk to the Aldstadt. There is a bus stop near the hotel. Bus ride to town takes about 5 minutes. The room was sort of depressing; a little worn, outdated decor and dim florescent lighting. Hotel has parking.

Long walk from hotel
Goldener Hirsch is a must place for dinner. The food was a little pricey but worth the money. The dishes were traditional Austrian cuisine, but the portions were not overwhelming and the presentation was beautiful. The place was cozy and charming.

Weihnachten in Salzburg
We spent four wonderful days in Salzburg and enjoyed our accommodations almost as much as the city itself. The rooms were clean, nicely appointed and what you would expect. The staff was very, very helpful and the breakfast very nice. We had great connections to two bus lines, as well, which was a huge plus since the Altstadt is a bit of a walk.

A good location spoilt by lack of air-conditioning and a person behind the desk who was curt and appeared to be not interested in the customer.
