Delightful staff, great location, excellent food

We have no complaint about the hotel but would make two recommendations, one for travelers, one for the hotel. If you like quiet, don't book a room overlooking the Ring or the Opera. The hotel should not charge for the use of wi-fi in their rooms. We stayed in four other 5-star hotels during this 11-day trip and only two charged for wi-fi. Otherwise, great hotel, staff, and location.

excellent stay

beautiful palace, located opposite the opera house, and so close of the most interesting sites of Vienna. Staff friendly and helpful, room with old-time ceiling. I asked to change my room which have a too small widow for my taste, and was given a beautiful two windows bedroom.

A great dame with a lot of milage

I stayed 2 weeks as an indulgence on opera. The best of it is the room window view of the Staatsoper, and be able to having a change of wine spilled jacket back in my room during intermission. My check-in also struck a chord with the name of the country, "the frontier on the East": Having my stay upgraded to a better room, I put down a 10-euro bill for exchanging coins to tip my porter. The clerk smiled brazenly and put it aside as his tip! I felt I was back in Cairo.

the Steirereck im stadtpark, a vastly undervalued 2 Michelin starred restaurant and the best in Austria. Oh, boy, hard are they trying! Don't miss the most fanciful downstair experience.

Fantastic location and fabulous concierge

What a great experience! The hotel treated us like we were paying a premium, when in fact we paid a rate that was about 1/3 of the published room rate. The hotel is older elegance, very well maintained and the location can't be beat. We were able to walk to absolutely everything. The rooms and common areas were sparkling clean and all the staff was friendly. Of special note was the concierge, who helped us set priorities prior to arrival, seemed to be ever-present during our stay, and was enthusistic assisting with our every need. He was able to get us bookings at busy restaurants, provided great opera seats and helped us maximize our enjoyment of Vienna. We would love to return to Vienna and the Hotel Bristol.

Imperial grandeur next to the opera

Located right next to the State Opera it´s the perfect place to stay when visiting performances there or at any of the other theatres all within walking distance. The rooms display the absolutely beautifully the splendor of the fin de siecle.

Classic elegance

A beautiful old hotel that is elegant and a perfect location to walk around old Viennna. The hiotel is a very charning old place, so if you want only newly built and modern construction this probably isnt your place. If you wnat old world charm and a beautifully furnished room and bathroom in a great area, I'd hoghly recoomend it.

R&R in Vienna

The Hotel Bristol was an absolute treat. I was in Vienna for a conference but was not required to attend all that much. When I arrived I was greeted with a friendly, english speaking staff who checked me in quickly. Because I arrived so early, my room was not ready, but they were extremely punctual at keeping me posted and I was in my room in no time. Saying that it was spotless seems to be insignificant in comparison to the over all shock I was in when I got to my room. It was huge. When I entered, I was presented with a marble hallway with a dressing room on my left then a large bathroom just after. Down the little marble hallway (with a wonderful oil paintings and nicely decorated, cloth walls) I entered my gigantic, opulently decorated bed room (with 4 mirrored closets). Even though I had quite a bit of luggage, I only used two of them. I could only imagine they had so many closets for people who brought clothes for the opera, which is right across the street. It was an amazing room, fireplace, comfortable seats and dressing chairs, complimentary fruit and water (i bought some flowers to put on the mantle). And I actually thought this may have been a mistake because I didn't upgrade that much from the basic room. Not so. Wow. Then there were the staff. They were incredibly helpful on directions and any needs I had. I ate dinner once in the dining room which was such a treat, (very good meal/service) and room service one morning. Again, very nice. I actually used the gym every day. Spotless, with various machines and free weights and yoga mats. AND an incredible view! You can walk out to the little patio from the gym and get some nice vienna air. I relaxed more than I have ever relaxed in a hotel and I have been to tons of them in Europe. This is a gem to say the least. I read a great book, listened to classical music and absorbed the beauty of the hotel and the city. Only one thing that was a bit out out of range. It was the price of the in-room movies. They were expensive - so I opted to read even more than usual, moving from comfortable chair to comfortable bed, to amazing lobby... reading. And it was a perfect location too. A pedestrian street just down the way with shops and cafes, the opera right next door, the museum quarter just down the street and everything is in walking distance. Wonderful trip and I will certainly return. Hopefully soon!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

I took the CAT (City Airport Train) from the airport to the city (and return). It was very easy and convenient. I took the stairs to get to it, but there is probably a elevator too. It drops you off in town and you can easily get a taxi to your hotel from there. It was a quick, 15min trip and very pleasant.

Charming Hotel

The hotel is centrally located, with access to public transportation and to many of the sites in and around Vienna. The building is stately, with much of the art deco charm, but extremely charming and comfortable, not pretentious, with the State Opera House directly across the street.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The public transportation is so efficient, there is no need to incur the added expense of taxis or private limousine. The taxi ride from the airport is a straight, understandable fee, however it is arbitrary what the fee back from downtown/ city center to airport maybe, you must be aware and ask prior to departing.
