Almond Casuarina Beach Resort - All Inclusive

Only one light in the bathroom and it was broken when we got there. Took 4 hours to get an extra towel to the room. The hotel has a strict dress code policy which is difficult to understand. And we watched them call out several patrons for not following the policy... they aren't discreet about it. Bathroom floor felt and looked dirty. Pool chairs were gross, some were very stained. Birds flying in dining areas... that just bothered me. There was entertainment some nights but most people didn't seem interested. We spent a lot of time at restaurants on the Gap. The local hospitality is EXCELLENT. The food was much better outside the hotel. Food options are limited except for the morning buffet. I don't think this is a reflection of Barbados in anyway. Just the resort. Will definitely return to the island just not this resort.

The staff was excellent, the food was good, the rooms were clean. The location is great, right on the beach and very close to clubs and restaurants. It was nice but if you want super upscale service this is not the resort for you. There were tons of families, couples, and even singles. Everyone was nice and laid back. I enjoyed my stay but I've been to much nicer resorts on prior vacations.

Much effort seem to have been expended in training the various personnel at all levels employed in the organization; waitresses and supervisors were extremely courteous, always willing to listen and be accommodating and helpful. At mealtimes in the restaurants, every individual seemed to be sure of his/her responsibility for that occasion and together they functioned as an effective team. Water-sports personnel and others I met on the beach; baggage helpers and nurse were all very courteous and helpful. I had to use room service on occasions because of a painful lower back. Restaurant personnel were always sympathetic and eager to help. I must also make special mention of the nurse who visited me in my room on being told of my back problem by another employee. She too served to make me feel comfortable and brought medication and recommended treatment. My room was spacious, comfortable and clean. A wonderful thee night experience for me and my wife. Location is on the South Coast which has gorgeous beach with terrific waves and a breeze on the beach. You get a feel for the local feel of the Island and it is walking distance to St Lawrence Gap. The food for this all inclusive resort is terrific with buffet for breakfast only...all else is menu service! That is the good. There is absolutely nothing to do at this hotel. No night life, a small bar,, no shows, NOTHING!!! You can go to the other Almond resorts but it is a 45 min drive and pick up is 10p. Unless you want to go to sleep early every night, this is not the place for you

I liked the Resort very much. Unfortunatley mostly couples in the late 40ies to 60ies.

The whole staff was excellent. The food was great.

In short, this hotel is shabby inside and out (if you're not booked for one of the refurbished rooms then your chances of getting one of their smelly mouldy rooms is great). The staff is unfriendly and unhelpful (had to request for someone to clean the room more than twice during my 6 day stay). Also, had to beg for someone to give me internet access that never came, which is supposed to be an amenity of the hotel. There are so many things wrong with this hotel on so many levels. Between the mouldy rooms, the unaccommodating staff, amenities offered but never given, and just an overall feeling of..... "I don't feel like I'm in a clean enviornment" - makes me wonder if I'm not a hotel snob? How could anyone have so many complaints about one place? Anyway, boys and girls, the moral of the story is I will never stay at an Almond property anywhere! Should you decided to book at the Casuarina make sure you request a refurbished room which is their "Block One" room location. As for the staff, maybe you could put in a call in advance and have the manager give them a crash course in customer relations before you get there. This resort has a great beach set on good location. The ocean view in the new block was great! The food was not that great had a couple good meals but mostly average. And the fact that you have to make reservations to eat at any of the restaurants is a pain. You do get harassed at first by vendors but they are friendly. But overall a good hotel for Barbados standards. Went swimming with the turtles and on Atlantis submarine both great and highly recommend!

The room was not ready for hours. Food was awful. Totally not edible.Lunch ended at 2 pm so we missed it every time coming back from diving trip.And the entire resort was very dirty. I have pictures to prove.

Was there for a friends wedding, the hotel was ok, never received a response from the hotel management, while being all inclusive, food selection was minmal and guests were given attitude if the requested to try more than one option on the menu.
