Perfect Stay for a Reasonable Price

This was my first visit to Barbados and the Blue Horizon Hotel. My husband has stayed there in the past and has always had a very pleasant experience. The location is perfect (across the street from the beach and close to the city!) and housekeeping does a wonderful job. We had an issue with the first room we were placed in and the staff immediately found us another (upgraded) room. The issue was that the curtains were old and degrading- so if you touched them on the way out to the balcony, you were left with this awful dust stuff all over your clothes. The staff said that they were in the process of changing out all of the curtains so when booking your stay, request a room with new curtains. Barbados is amazing and the Blue Horizon Hotel is really excellent for the price. I would highly recommend staying there. I am only highlighting the not-so-perfect details so that the reader gets a full picture. Truthfully I would (and will) stay there again. The two other complaints that I would have are that during our stay it was a little noisy. I suppose this depends on the other travelers and not the hotel and we never complained so the management didn't have the opportunity to do anything about it. Another guest on our floor had a dog that barked alot and the guest seemed to shout out and bark(?) himself quite often too! Also, don't rely on the front desk for your messages. Sometimes they take them and sometimes they don't. Sometimes you get notification that you have a message, and sometimes you don't. Other then that- it's GREAT! Housekeeping and maintenance are on top of everything. The pool area is lovely. The beach is fabulous and there is so much to do, see, and eat nearby.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Get out and enjoy the island! My favorite spot is The Fishermans Pub in Speitghtstown (St. Peter) and there is also a nearby DELICIOUS bakery! It's a bit of a distance but worth it. Nearby check out Scotty's in the Gap, Oistens on Friday or Saturday nights (beware: crowded, but Oh So Fun!), and for easy peasy fast food: Chefette is right next door for some delicious Roti :) Yumm.
