Aloft is a modern stylish hotel with a lively atmosphere. The room was spacious, clean and well-appointed. The bed was VERY comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel to Grand Place (city center), plus there's a bicycle rental stand right in front of the hotel. The subway stop is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. So, your options for getting around town are very adequate. Very reasonably priced, lots of amenities, and FREE wifi.

Funky, clean, and upbeat
The staff are amazing and helpful, the rooms are clean, and the amenities are great (nice gym, free bottles of evian, wifi everywhere, etc.). My only complaint was that there is no real restaurant. The 24-hour snack buffet is a nice touch, but the food has to be heated with a microwave and it kind of feels like a college dorm setup. I also paid a LOT given that it seemed like a pretty simple hotel. But the location and service couldn't be beat.

Great Place to Sleep or Hang Out
Before booking our stay, I read many reviews and looked at pictures of this hotel and others in Brussels before choosing. Planned to spend most of our time in the area of the Grand Place, so was hoping to find something close - but still chose Aloft knowing that it was a good walk to the area since we dont' mind walking. We arrived through the Brussels airport. Unfortunately, the most direct route to the hotel is either by 40 Euro taxi ride, or a 25-30 minute city bus for about 4 Euro each. No shuttle, no direct metro or train service. Since it was our first time to the city, I chose the bus instead of trying to figure out the trains. In the end, I suspect they take about the same amount of time if you factor in changing trains/metro. Was very happy to find that the Shuman bus stop where you get off is about 20 steps from the front door of the hotel! Unfortunately, the "return direction" to get you on the right bus back to the airport is not so close. It's about a 5 minute walk, up-hill (dragging your luggage), and it is not clearly identifable where the stop is because it is located in a big traffic circle which you have to walk half way around to find the sign saying it's the 12 or 21 bus. Nevertheless, this would not discourage me from using this method of transport again - it was just a minor inconvenience to us.The staff was nice, friendly and attentive our entire stay (2 nights). The check-in was a little bit bothersome using the kiosk, but still was quick and easy. [...] The room card was spit out of the machine, and we headed up to our room. Somehow, I didn't mind not having a personal one-on-one interaction with an employee to get checked into my room. Besides, we arrived after 11pm, and there was only one person working the desk and they appeared to be occupied helping other customers with other matters besides check-in. So, in the end, I was very pleased with the computer kiosk check-in.Our room was quite nice. Big king bed. Very nice mattress, sheets soft and clean. Big TV on the wall, plenty of space in the room with a desk and bench. Felt like we had plenty of room for 2 people. Bathroom and entire room was very nicely finished out and clean. I couldn't have been happier, especially for the price! In fact, I would rate this as an EXCELLENT value with regards to the room and overall offerings of the hotel. Free wifi was great and easy to get on.Downstairs, the hotel also offered a very convenient type of "snack bar" where you help yourself to a variety of "grab and carry" foods (some fresh made, others pre-packaged), along with a pleasant assortment of drinks including coffee and tea by the cup. Paying was easy - show the front desk (which is 3 meteres away) what's on your tray, they ask you for your room number and name it's registered to, and you're on your way. No fumbling with cash or credit card. The rest of the main level of the hotel included a bar (we never managed to get a drink because we were always coming after it was closed - which seemed surprisingly early to be closed by midnight). Nevertheless, the whole area was very comfortable and we spent some time down there both evenings of our stay. The seating is stylish, cozy, comfortable, relaxed, and overall a quiet place of chit-chat with small groups. There was also a pool (billards) table, and a room with what appeared to be a Nintendo Wii hooked up. I never explored the room, because it was always in use - either by kids one evening, or by adults another evening. The hotel was great. The location? Well, you definitely don't walk out the door into the Grand Place. However, getting there is pretty easy, but a bit of a walk (for those who are not accustomed to walking). It did not bother us - we walk a lot where we live. However, we did use the metro once because we were runnling late to meet friend for dinner in the Grand Place. The metro is pretty easy to use, dirty/grungy, but effecient and reasonably prices. I kn...

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
No restaurant in the hotel. On the weekend we stayed, no restaurants we walked past in the area were open for lunch or dinner (Saturday/Sunday). Plan to have a walk, metro ride, bus, or cab to another area of town if you're looking for dining opitons.

The room were fantistic and modern, you don't have a bath, you got a shower. Breakfast was very trendy and healthy good. The only bad things was the noises from the bars playing music to 4/5am for Friday night and saturday nights they do organise parties therefore expect some noise.
