A lovely place to stay, but not central.

The hotel was really impressive. A Holiday Inn Express is not some place where you expect to find the highest levels of cleanliness, service, and good food, but I found all three. I was extremely pleasantly surprised. In particular, the staff were very helpful, and master linguists: Flemish, French, English and German were spoken well by all that I met.
The staff were so helpful, I'm at a loss to describe in detail what I liked best about them. They gave me good advice for tourism, restaurants, mass transit, etc... Unfortunately, one day I got extremely sick and needed a doctor. They found someone willing to make a house call !! And then they arranged a car to take me to a pharmacy so I could get my prescription filled while I waited. Really helpful people.
The only thing is that the hotel is located very far from the center of Ghent. So you just cannot walk. You can take a bus if you like, but the taxis are very cheap and highly reliable. Probably the best bet is to rent a car, or to drive to the hotel, because then you have total freedom. The hotel has its own protected parking lot.

The hotel is clean and tidy and a good price for Belgium with breakfast and (slow speed) internet for free. Ideal for business travellers with meetings in the neighbourhood as it is close to highway. Nice running outside for those wanting some exercise.

お部屋も広く、レセプションの方もとても愛想がよく気持ちよく滞在できました。
朝食ビュッフェは値段の割りに簡素かな？朝食レストラン自体が狭くて、テーブルも小さく、ちょっとがっかりでした。

First class hotel in the best location in the historical centre of Ghent facing the River/Canal.
Within short walks of all the main places of interest. Wonderful medieval architecture. Good restaurants and coffee/tea shops but expensive!!
Unless you like heavy rock/pop music gigs don't visit during the 10-day Ghent Festival (mid-July)which is held in the historic central area and when the town is besieged with visitors - but all well behaved!
Ghent has similarities with Bruges, but Bruges is more quaint and beautiful. However Ghent is well worth a visit of 3-4 days and is only half-an-hour on the train from Brussels and the train fare is included in your Eurostar ticket. Also for another half-hour train ride from Ghent you can visit Bruges for a day.

Great location, great staff, very helpful. Our first room was very nice, but I would consider an upgrade on the room. Our first - standard - room had a terrible bed (according to my back), but the staff was very accommodating on upgrading to a room that had a much better bed.
The location was great - 1 block from the bell tower (Belfort) and St. Baafs. 2 block from the castle/fort. Right in the heart of the center city. Close to lots of shops and restaurants.

Hotel room was full of mosquitos, also a stale smell. The area the hotel was suituated looked like a communist parade ground, with simular buildings. Hotel a good distance from the centre of Ghent, but did have good tram service close by. Never again !!l.

I was very pleased with my stay. The hotel is close to
the train station but within walking (2km) distance o
the historic downtown (where I was working). I
misunderstood the statement, "Internet is available
in the room". What they mean is is, "available for an
extra charge" in the room. This may be customary
in Europe but it caught me off guard. Also, they
offered free Internet in the lobby but I had to request
a new password every 30 minutes. I think 60 or 90
minutes and I would not have had any issue. But
every day, I would run out of my 30 minutes. I
probably could have gotten another 30 minutes
but I would just quit -- frustrated.
The staff was great. They recognized me every
time I came in (maybe because I'm obviously a
foreigner). They were helpful. There was a cash
bar but no restaurant. Breakfast smelled great
but was too pricey for me. A (free) coffee from
the lobby and a small bite on the way to work
was fine for me.
I would recommend this hotel. Furniture was a
little old but the room was spacious and very
clean.

No aircondition, had to sleep with the window open a saturday night. A lot of noice from the street, a lot of people screaming and singing. My children woke up with at least 20 moskito/moscito(?) bite on there body, that last for over a mounth. We didn´t sleep that night. Will not stay here again. But the location where good.

The hotel is in the perfect location although a bit hard to find because of the construction on the cathedral. It is next to everything that the history seeking traveler wants to see. The hotel is new, so therefore if you are looking for a bit more old world atmosphere, I wouldn't recommend. Otherwise, it is a lovely place to stay with very helpful staff and lovely, fluffy pillows.

Hélas pour nou seul bémol et de taille, le ménage était très approiximativement fait puisque nous avons trouvé dans la salle de bain des "choses" diverses ne nous appartenant pas et une bonne dose de poussière de ci de là. Insonorisation moyenne avec la chambre au dessus et odeur tenace de désodorisant dans la chambre.

It might have been the holiday season (end July), but there was an absolute lack of staff. Reception lady was very efficient, though not very hospitable. Deciding to have a drink in the bar, we sait down there for 15 minutes with absolutely no staff there. In the end, we went to the reception desk and asked for our drinks there. And yes, it was the same lady and again she was efficient but not hospitable. In the morning upon check-out there was a note at the reception desk stating 'back in a minute'. After 15 minutes of waiting we decided to leave and let the credit card take care of everything.
The hotel rooms are quite acceptable and knowing now that I need not expect a warm and friendly welcome etc, I would stay there again.

The only rooms available in Brussels when I was booking were priced out of site and I do not do 1 and 2 star hotels in Europe. This hotel was within 5 min walk to train station and easy commute into Brussels. The room was nice, breakfast was good and staff very friendly. I also had opportunity to check out medieval part of city at night (20 min walk or 7 min tram ride). Free internet.

I generally like the hotel. Small and well situated in the center of Gent.
My room was small, but still big compared to some of the NYC hotel rooms I have tried. The breakfast was included. If I had paid for the breakfast I would have been disappointed about the quality, but when included in the competitive price (117USD / 8 Euro), I found it okay. On the bad side: 5Euro for 1h of Internet, 20Euro for 24h!
Over all: a thumbs up, and for the price I would likely go there again.
But it puzzles me, how this hotel can have 4*.
