great hotel
I have travelled to all 7 continents. The staff at Best Western Biltmore was the best staff I have ever had the pleasure to stay with. Shermadine Rowland is the best Conciere in the world. Our tour guide Val was great. I want to thank Yvette, Arlet, Scottie, Cecilio, and sweet Charlene for a great stay. James T. Hannan

Not a great beginning
I called long distance from Michigan to have a taxi pick us up at the aiport and take us to the hotel....never showed...not a good beginning. The restaurant buffets listed in the hotel directory were never when they said or they just didn't have them. One evening I order curry shrimp and my husband ordered Ceasar salad for dinner. The waiter returned and told us they had not lettuce and no curry. Also the first five items on the appetizer menu they did not have. We ate out alot and that involved taxi rides into Belize City. This hotel needs some serious managment improvements! The tour lady was great

The Celebrity has good food and very reasonably priced. Also ate at the Chon Soon Palace twice. Great menu....could not make up our minds and the food is great and very reasonably priced. Try the hot pots!

Okay
The hotel is just okay and is suitable for a brief stay. There is nothing near the hotel to walk to, except one grocery store. The lobby is beautiful, but it has no air conditioning! The gift shop is tiny and the restaurant is expensive. Never ate there. The pool is very nice! It was the best thing about this hotel. The rooms are clean and average in size and include a 19" TV. Great satellite with lots of tv channels to watch, including movie channels. There were two complimentary water bottles in the room daily. Our biggest complaint about this hotel is the plumbing. We had to call for maintenance two times in three days. The toliet stopped flushing, and the cold water stopped working in the shower. The hot water alone was way too hot! They fixed this for us quickly, though. When the water was working the temperature would vary for no reason while you showered. The employees of the hotel were all very nice and helpful. Our maintenance calls were answered ASAP. I have traveled to a lot of 3rd world countries and have found plumbing problems to be common. Overall, a decent hotel room for brief trips. It's fine if you plan on going out and exploring and not spending much time at the hotel itself.

not at all satisfied,
The hotel is pretty good, the bathroom need to be remodeling, (tiles and faucets).Every day when we came back, we watched tv. We paid for two king beds, and in our room was just one, and when we asked about that in the front desk, they told us it is the same price which we think is not right we got really mad and we were looking forward the moment to come back home.

Nice place to stay. Room was clean and confortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was expensive for those of us who had only cereal and fruit.

Handicapped by Location
The staff members were very friendly, and the hotel, itself, was quite nice. The problem? Location, location, location. It's impossible to walk ANYWHERE...except about 10 minutes to a supermarket and a bank. Taxis to get into Belize City, where you have to go to get to anything or anyplace, are very expensive. The inexpensive (50 cents US) bus, circa 1948, into the city is unpredictable. As far as I could tell, I was the only traveler not in a group. The groups, of course, had their vans and guides.

Try to avoid the cruise ship bunch. Do visit as many Mayan ruins as possible. The national museum, though small, is worth the visit. The Keys (cayes/cayos) seemed to be great only for divers and drinkers. They're very expensive.

Nice Hotel
We enjoyed our stay, staff was personable and helpful, but sometimes a little vague about the city. The hotel is in a good location when you are unfamiliar with the city as the south-side of the downtown should be avoided except by taxi. Our rooms was OK, not great. Pool was nice. Bartender at the pool bar was very nice and lots of good advice about getting around the city. We would use the hotel again.

Brody's stores are too expensive. Dicker with the taxi drivers for the best rate. ei Swing bridge back to the hotel, no more than $15 belize. Taxi from downtown to the airport $25 US.
