Mar Palace Copacabana Hotel

The hotel is about two blocks from Copacabana beach. Just a short walk, and you are on the beach. To see the other attractions of Rio, There is a bus stop across the street. The rooms of the hotel are a nice size, and the bathroom has room to move around. The air conditioning is a window unit for the rooms, and can be set to your desired temperature. On the roof of the hotel you will find a mini bar, gym, and pool. The gym has equipment for cardio and a small machine for strength training. There are no free weights at this gym. The pool is good for sitting relaxing, but is small for swimming. The staff of the hotel is helpful, and they will give you directions on how to see the sights of Rio. The staff at the desk speak both english and portuguese. I would recommend this hotel for someone looking for a place close to the beach without the cost of the hotels on the beach.

We chose this hotel for the Value/Price relation. Nicely placed a few blocks from the beach, restaurants, stores nearby. way cheaper than Leblon or Ipanema.

The location is very Good. Short walk to Copacabana Beach. Good restaurants close by. Good value against hotels in Leblon, Ipanema or the expensive hotels in front of Copacabana Beach. Subway station is very close. The Pizza at the Hotel Restaurant was surprisingly good.

My stay was OK (See other review) until I realized at some point they lifted about $90 USD from my belongings. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Strong air conditioning ( a plus). Decent roof bar. Only had 1 person at front desk most times, and they did not have the [...]reservation - I had to print it out for them. Much more expensive on location than online - it's a decent stay but you'll want to head to Ipanema as Copa is very touristy.

This is a very decent hotel with a spacious room & nice bathroom. A very friendly staff and the location is fantastic as it is close to the Copacabana beach and other nice restaurants around.

Hotel was average, amenities are fine, staff were helpful. Breakfast are all the same, no variations at all. If you are going back to the hotel late at night, door are closed and you have to knock and wake up the doorman. Couple of blocks from the Metro which is cool. The only hassle was checking out it took us about 30 to 45 minutes just to check out coz thier computer was down. Overall the hotel was not to bad at all.

The hotel is a great location, just a block from the Copacabana Beach. The pool doesn't exsist - it's been without water for a very long time. The patio roof top is nice, but small; so is the exercise room. The rooms were fine - nothing special. The staff is not helpful, and parking a car was difficult initially. If you don't speak Portuguese, it's even more difficult. The breakfast (included) was non-remarkable,but there are great restaurants in the area. The beach is amazing, as is the rest of Rio. The hotel has connections to the most important tourist attractions, and can make reservations. If I return to Rio, I'd choose a different hotel, but I'd want one with the same location advantage and the $ value. Since those were both good, I'd recommend it to a friend, but I'd be very open about the drawbacks

Hotel was fine but I woudn't call it a 4 star hotel. Room was comfortable enough and location is good but it missed something to make it a 4 star hotel.

1 block from beach. Area around hotel (copa) gets a little seedy at night. This hotel is a 3 star, not 4 as listed on other sites. Pool is completely out of order. Food in restaurant is cheap and decent. Rooms were ok. Ants on the furniture other than the beds. They charge for use of the inroom safe. Wireless Internet is fast and cheap.
