IMPORTANT: Children under 18 years old are required to present identification at check-in and must be accompanied by both parents, guardians, or have permission of the Juvenile Court, in case of travelling with others. In case one of the parents is not traveling with them, they must show his/her parent permission to travel with the person accompanying them.

Maneuvering Barra and the Promenade Paradiso
The setting is outstanding, located in a very upscale neighborhood near shopping malls, cafes and restaurants, one right across a very busy arterial, however. The pool and surrounding grounds of the hotel are quite special as well as the breakfast buffet which is included. The "non" suite room is really small but clean with a balcony offering a pleasant view. For English speakers, do not expect to watch T.V. for all programs are in Portuguese. Most of the staff do not speak English, but those at the front desk can manage English well enough. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful for reading but not speaking Portuguese since the pronunciations are vastly different. The biggest drawback to the hotel is, in a way, the location. Barra da Tijuca is about a $30 cab ride one way from LeBlon and Ipanema Beaches and areas of Rio. After the Olympics there will be subway access to Barra, but for now, one must learn to use the bus system if cab fares seem formidable. All in all, Rio is a gorgeous city in an amazing environment and Promenade Paradiso is a good bet at a good price to allow visitors to experience it.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Actually a long drive. Get to places like Corcovado ( Christ the Redeemer Statue)and Sugar Loaf early to avoid crowds. Get an English-speaking guide to take you if possible. It will be worth the investment. Also, unless really wanting to participate in Carnaval, book a trip to Rio in July or August when the weather is less scorching and the action less frantic.

The air conditioning system was broken. After having my room changed, I realised the new room also had a problem with the air conditioning. I spent the whole day until they got that fixed and didn´t get the chance to rest before new year´s eve. a total disaster for an expensive cost. The staff didñ´t seem helpfull enough on that ocasion. I´ll never come back again!!!!

Nice staff; hotel needs improvement
The good: nice breakfast, free wi-fi, large rooms, friendly staff. The bad: stained sheets & comforter. Awful musty smell in room. Floor dirty. Bed uncomfortable--old & lumpy. Fitness center dirty and unserviced--no towels, and water cooler remained empty during my stay there. Lots of hallway noise. I would not stay here again.
