This modern hotel located directly on the seafront in the modern district of Barra da Tijuca offers spacious apartments and scenic views. The hotel is 15 kilometers from the city center, easily reached by car and public transport, and close to Pep Beach. The Royalty Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro has large, well designed apartments with satellite TV, internet access and balconies overlooking the sea and mountains. The in-house restaurant serves excellent regional and international food and leisure options include a gym, sauna, Jacuzzi and rooftop swimming pool and bar with spectacular views.

The hotel alos offers Children's facilities, Dry cleaning, Lobby and Reception.

IMPORTANT: Children under 18 years old are required to present identification at check-in and must be accompanied by both parents, guardians, or have permission of the Juvenile Court, in case of travelling with others. In case one of the parents is not traveling with them, they must show his/her parent permission to travel with the person accompanying them.

Beach is great, but everything else?

We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and had enough, and definitely won't come there again. There are three nearby restaurants which were very good, but the food at the hotel was terrible. Especially coffee. Undrinkable. Instant coffee was MUCH better by comparison, and that's saying something. The reception staff was unresponsive and sometimes downright rude. Laundry service is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Fifty reais (30 dollars) for a pair of pants. Sometimes the prices went up to 80 reais per item. At those prices you might as well buy new clothes, rather than wash. The maid service was extremely spotty and inconsistent. Sheets weren't changed unless explicitly asked. On top of everything, the key to the room stopped working almost every day.

Really enjoyed our stay there

We enjoyed our staying a lot. This hotel is very well located, the front rooms have amazing views and the staff is very polite and responsive. The rate was very good to what the hotel offered. Included breakfast was a feast, with many options (self service) to choose from. The rooms are "no frills" but have all amenities we wanted, and what a view! Overall, we think it was excellent to stay there

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

We liked the most to go to the beach in front of the hotel. Barra is a great (best) place to be in Rio, and going to other beaches/areas demand expertise on driving on the crazy traffic, and demands finding a parking spot. We went to ipanema beach outside of rush hours and it took 45 min to find a parking spot - plan wisely if you intent to visit other beaches and/or attractions

Great hotel...

Royalty Hotel is was generally speaking a great hotel. Customer service was excellent. Breakfast Buffet was really good. The hotel is located in front of the beach with a great view. The hot tub did not work properly and did not have hot water. Across the street there is a firefighter and lifeguards station with a helipad. Sometimes they have a helicopter taking off and landing throughout the day so it can be a little noisy. They let you do early checking before 200pm but will charge half day using their rates not orbitz. We paid a orbitz one day rate for their half prize. This is really important to keep in mind because most of US airline carriers arrive early in the morning to Rio da Janeiro. In sum, it was a great experience staying in this hotel and I hope to comeback someday again.

There is a good restaurant just steps from the hotel to the right, it was great with awsome typical brazilian food. Totally recomended.
