30 year old bathroom
It is hard to describe this place. The bathroom shower is a bathtub with tons of black mold and stains, the water spurts out of the shower and the tub faucet at the same time filling the bathtub up with water. The faucet moves when you touch it and it is surely on its last leg. The hot water in the sink screams when you turn it on. There are open slits in the entry way that show exposed insulation and ceiling material, not becoming in a $500/night hotel. Apparently, some rooms have been "updated" and some are appalling from a different era. There are burn marks on the carpet, rust stains throughout the bathroom, etc. I'm nominating this for worst bathroom in the world at a hotel that costs more than $400. Overall, it is a small room. However, it has a small balcony with an ocean peak that is extremely nice. I tried to move rooms and they just showed me other rooms that were the same and wanted to charge me $110 more for the same room that was updated. It seems like I already paid for the "updated" room and was just getting reamed on this other room that is basically a dump. The staff is OK, the place is nice and the location is great, but I would try another hotel in the same area for half the price. It can't be too much worst. Cheers...

Good Hotel - Great Location
This hotel is in a great location. I think they are asking too much money for what you get, but overall it is not a bad place to stay. Location, location, location is important in Rio.

Great location, great service
The rooms were very modern, bed was awesome, and the view on the beach side was well worth the upgrade. Breakfast was the best we found in the area, on a great patio overlooking the beach. The staff was friendly too. Overall it was a positive experience in what I thought would be a stuffy hotel. I would stay here again if I visit Rio again.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
It's on the beach, and great local restaurants are a short taxi ride away.
