This was an ideal hotel in a good location. Our room had mountain views to die for. The hotel is accross the road from the Banff hot Springs, a great spot to relax and unwind. You also get complimentary use of the public transport system showing your room key/card. Absolutely loved our stay in Banff!

Rimrock Resort -- Excellent
My experience at the Rimrock Hotel was excellent. The views are great and the service staff is top notch. The hotel has a phenomenal spa and exercise room. Much more equipment than your typical hotel gym. One downside is that unless you are in a premium room, wireless internet is $15/day.

Location...location...location
I was there for three nights with my gf for a getaway trip and the hotel was fabulous. Three minutes walk to the hot springs and five minutes walk to the gondola + complimentary bus to downtown banff makes it very convenient even without a car. We only rented a car for one day to travel to lake louise.

Hotel nice but bad restaurant service
Charge for parking $15.00. No shuttle and we waited over an hour for our dinner at the Diva restaurant and management did not deal with this accordingly. We felt they didn't care that we where upset. It was a birthday celebration for one of our friends and no one else was ordering dinner but us so there was no need to have to wait over an hour for hamburgers.

Very Nice Hotel
The Rimrock Resort is a very nice hotel in a beautiful location in Banff NP, though not for those hoping to walk into town. It is adjacent to the gondola, has very nice grounds and beautiful views. The short drive into town is easy enough, or there is a shuttle bus available. We didn't try any of the hotel restaurants, but the kids liked the indoor pool. While it's common for urban hotels to charge for parking, I was surprised that this out-of-town location (with no other options for parking) charged a significant daily fee. The lodging rate was a lot less than the Banff Springs Hotel but more than other hotels in town (and fairly pricey in US dollars, but nothing in Banff & Jasper is cheap). One overlooked attraction is the impressive gardens at the park HQ at the end of the main street (just over the Bow River bridge). It's a nice peaceful break from the bustling shopping district. The walkway along the Bow River just a couple blocks off the main street is also lovely. Banff's touristy shopping village is set in spectacular scenery in a combination unlike any other place I've experienced in North America.

Just a couple blocks from the main street (a block from the Bow River) is a decent grocery store with reasonable prices--convenient and great for saving on dining-out expenses.
