Expensive getaway

considering the cost of the room, the room was extremely small, difficult to move around the room. Very clean and neat, fantastic location in Banff National Park. $20 for parking was unacceptable, again considering the expenditure for the room. Staff was excellent

"The View

The Banff Fairmont hotel is awesome for location and beauty. We paid extra for a room with a "View" and have to say that the room, by today's standards, was extremely small as was the bathroom and the "View" could only be appreciated if you stepped into a small alcove and pressed your nose against the window for the view of the golf couse and the lake and mountains in the background. The extra cost was not worth the price.

Incredible hotel!

We spent time in Jasper and Banff National Parks, and stayed at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel on our last night. It is a remarkable hotel and it is well worth staying there. Some of the great aspects of the hotel include: a heated outdoor pool with views of the mountains, beautiful grounds (including a golf course), and an intriguing design. The hotel has a lot of interesting history, and just walking around the hotel and grounds is enjoyable. We stayed across from the main building, but we had a large room with comfortable beds and it didn't detract from our stay at all. I would definitely go back to this hotel, and absolutely would recommend this to a friend.

You can walk into town from the hotel. It is about 20 minutes away by foot. There are some excellent hiking trails near the hotel.

Fantastic Getaway

Spent one night in a tastefully renovated Fairmont Room . Very well appointed though a bit small. But that is expected ; it is and old structure. Had a difficult time to get a supper reservation. I would suggest reserving dining times as soon as you make room reservation. Great breakfast buffet in main dining room. I would recommend the Fairmont to a friend.

45th Anniversary Trip of a lifetime

We arrived late Monday evening. The town and hotel were quite busy. Our disappointment started early: the TV would not work, the refrigerator was HOT, and the bedside lamp was not plugged in - as it turned out was the reason the TV and refrigerator did not work. Once those problems were cared for the next day, the lamp worked, but only the lowest unit of the three-way bulb worked. Wednesday, the room was cleaned, but the bathroom was not replenished with towels. Late getting back after a long day, it was remedied within a half hour, but not quite up to standard. I think visitors should know that everything is very expensive. The Buffet breakfast for two cost $63.00! Those prices were found everywhere at the hotel and throughout the National Park. Thje Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel had a shuttle bus to the Waldhaus restaurant, but even after an early meal, the shuttle was no longer in service. The golf was fine, but there are more scenic courses in the area. We appreciated the opportunity to stay in such fairy-tale surroundings, but would not choose the hotel again.

The bus system in Banff is very clean, spacious and inexpensive. Although Banff has abundant parking garages - FREE - the bus is very useful!! Not enough information about this valuable service.

Breathtaking Banff

The Fairmont Hotels are magnificent and other than the check in process in Banff, the trip was perfect. When I checked in, the person behind the counter said that I had booked with Orbitz, and that there were no rooms available in the main hotel. He tried to put me across the street in the conference center. We went back and forth for a while, and he finally gave me a room (not the best location and not the best room), but at least in the main hotel where I fully expected to stay when I booked this trip.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Spa services in Banff are outrageously expensive. There are several spas in town, very close by, where you can get a 90 minute massage, for 1/2 the price of a 60 minute massage in Banff Springs Hotel.
