Got to Calgary in the middle of the night. Our original plans had changed so we thought we would try to check in early (early being 3 a.m.) I would have understood if we would have had to pay half price for that night but they made us pay full price. I work at a resort in the middle of the desert and we wouldn't even do that. If the room was available, we would just let them check in early at no extra cost. That was the only thing disappointing.

A few nice restaraunts in the area. Red Lobster was closed due to a fire but the cafe in the parking lot and Mr Ts BBQ around the corner were pretty awesome!!!!!

Confortable stay

Great location, we chose it as we didn't want to spend much time in our room so thought we would chose a better value option. Close to major road ways which provides access to anywhere we wanted to go. Friendly staff, clean rooms. Needs updating but a comfortable stay for those not wanting to stay in their rooms but enjoy the city.

Great accommodations

We traveled with a family of six, including grandparents. The accommodations were perfect for us. The breakfast was very nice for continental. I would recommend it to others and will stay there again if we pass through.

good value

Stayed 2 nights, but didn't stay in my room much other than to sleep and shower. I'm impressed with the size of the room I had....1 king sized bed and one couch (which was probably pullout too, but I didn't need it) all down the one side of the room, with room to move around too. Desk with office chair (wireless internet for free), good sized flat panel TV (although poor reception on the channels in my room....not that I watched it much), as well as a microwave and a medium size fridge, coffee table and another chair by the bay window. This room could easily hold 4 people and not worry about bumping into each other. There was a slight odor in the room, but then I'm a smoker and I requested a smoking room and that is common if it has been smoked in a lot. However, I did feel that the room was very clean otherwise. Staff were friendly and helpful with my questions. Free continental breakfast (coffee, juices, milk, cereal, pastries, bagels, etc.) served from 6am - 10:30am (I was gone well before it ended, so not sure about the end time). Not the greatest food, but still free and filling if you don't have time or don't want to go to a restaurant.

A very pleasant stay!

This hotel was the perfect combination of price and location. It is cheaper than some of the other hotels in the same area, but it is still new enough to be acceptable. The breakfast buffet was great and the internet access fast and easy to use. The rooms were taken care of very well. Every evening, I came back to a perfect room. There was a fridge and a microwave, and an ironing board and iron. I really couldn't ask for more.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the C-train (light rail) downtown. The closest station is just a minute away.

Very dog friendly!!

Overall, another great stay at this Travelodge!! Check-in was a bit slow as no one was at front desk on arrival, but within a few minutes, was greeted with friendliness and respectfulness. That made up for having to wait. We arrived with 2 large dogs travelling with us and were greeted by every employee and other guests with smiles, and hellos, making our stay much more enjoyable. We were told there would be a $10 charge, per dog, per day, extra, but on arrival were told there was only a $10 charge in total for the dogs. Really nice!' It would be a really nice extra to have dog treats at the counter on check-in, and it would be nice to have a list of dog amenities..(i.e. off-leash parks, etc.)..available, but otherwise, the dogs were very welcome. Close to good restaurants.

GREAT STAY

Our stay was very nice, starting with the check in staff. They are dressed very professionally, are polite and helpful. It was nice to be greeted and treated with both respect and friendliness. Our room was a nice size, with large tv, couch, fridge and microwave, as well as information books about Calgary and area, in both the room and in the lobby. No charge parking and a very nice complimentary breakfast and newspapers are included. There were extra pillows/blankets in our room, restaurants just steps away. Will look forward to staying there again.
