Great hotel in the heart of gay vancouver
This is the type of hotel i could stay at for a long time. The hotel is set up like an apartment suite it has a kitchen, living room and washer and dryer in the hotel room. Great for families, and since it is in the heart of the gay district in Vancouver B.C. Great for "family" too. The location cant be beat smack in the middle of Davie st, you can walk all the neighborhoods and right down to english bay. I never need a car at this location. I stay here often when i am in Vancouver.

Convenient Location
The staff were very friendly and helpful and offered service without the asking. It is an older hotel obviously, so it would take a considerable amount of money to upgrade the heating and air conditioning, but the rooms have full kitchens with separate sleeping areas. The beds are overdue for an upgrade to something more comfortable, but again, that is another expense. The thing they do have control over is the cleanliness, and the rooms are overdue for a thorough cleaning. The repair to detail would just be icing on the cake if they could just deep cleanse the rooms and give them that shine and fresh smell that guests look forward to.

Weekend Excursion
Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Room surprisingly well appointed for the price. A suite with kitchenette at half the price of nearby hotels! Despite a 4th floor room next to the elevators, we hardly heard a sound and slept great!

New place for us, will return
We stayed here for the first time, and will definitely return. We visit Vancouver yearly for the RSVP bike ride from Seattle and usually stay at the Coast Plaza since that is where the ride officially ends. I've had issues in the past with the staff there-long lines checking in, rooms not ready, curt counter attitudes, and so with the rate increase this year I decided to look around. Sandman came recommended and I am doing the same. I was greeted politely, room ready, no lines, beautiful - albeit smaller then Coast Plaza- suite with bay view, balcony, nice pool, no screaming kids, restaurant and lounge. We were seven blocks from the Coast and so did some hoofing back and forth for events, but the exercise was good.

A Different, High-Quality Experience
My wife and I spent four nights at this hotel for our first visit to Vancouver. The hotel was terrific and located quite convenitently. The neighborhood was definately not what we were used to but that was okay. It was very international and clearly catered to people with alternative lifesyles. Something different!!!

Sandman Suites on Davie
Traveled to Vancouver and wanted to stay downtown near everything. It was the hockey playoffs and nearly everything was booked. Found the Sandman Suites on [...]and booked with themThe hotel is in a fairly decent location. Was given a room and found that the room was not quite what I expected. The suite was small and had a loveseat that took up the entire seating area in the living room. The double bed took up all of the bedroom leaving small areas on each side of the bed to walk by and about a six inch area in front of the bed to cross in front of the old TV and out to the living area. The living area had a small stove, refrigerator and utensils. The bed was soft and uncomfortable. The bathroom had a broken shower which was not fixed during our 4 day stay there - the water did not shut off and the mixing valve did not work, giving us cold to luke warm showers. The suite was made up late every day. The front desk staff was indifferent. A key card was needed to work the elevators and most of the time the cards did not work and we ended up at times locked in an elevator since you needed a key card to work to press the buttons. At times the key cards had to be rekeyed since they did not open the room or the elevator. The front desk staff was indifferent. Parking was underground but needed the key card which variably worked. Room service is from Moxies Restaurant and at times they did not have staff so you had to go down and get the food yourself. The food was poor with undercooked burgers that tasted off.

Sandman Suites
Located in downtown Vancouver, within walking distance to plenty of shopping and entertainment. Rooms offfered a full kithchen, seperate bedroom and balcony with good views. The space is a bit tight and the spare couch bed is too small for more than one person.
