The motel reminded us of Psycho
At 7:30 pm, after traveling all day we drove to the Bayview Motor Inn, HALIFAX, Canada (in a busy industrial-like area) and there were no cars in the parking lot, except for the front desk person's. Weeds were growing, the outside paint was flaking and the place was run down. We were apprehensive enough for our safety that we did not stay overnight.

A Very Good Option To Pricey Airport Hotels
The Bayview Motor Inn, located approx. 10 minutes by car from Halifax City Centre, was a welcome alternative to the grossly overpriced airport box hotels a mere 25 minutes away. The exterior of the Bayview Motel is run down and in need of a good face lift. That said, I found these basic rooms comfortable and very good value for the money. I highly recommend spending an extra few dollars for a room with a port view where you can sit outside and watch the giant ships load and unload (never even turned on the t.v.). Bathrooms (in my room anyhow) have recently been remodelled and were nicer than the one in the $200.00 hotel I stayed in the night before. For the price, should you have a vehicle and not be expecting the modern amenities of a newer hotel I would recommend this motor inn and personally would stay there again.

Entertainment tip:
Short drive from hotel
Drive into Halifax was well marked but the location of the motor inn provides a quick exit to the airport.

Welcome to the Bates Motel!
The Bayview Motor Inn has fallen very far since my last trip some ten years ago. The pillows and sheets were covered with black hairs, the carpeting had not been vacuumed in some time, the comforter was not clean, the boxspring was stained, there was no soap in the bathroom, there was urine spots under the toilet seat, the t.v. remote could not move down, the curtains were badly stained, and to add insult to injury, I was bitten by something as I sat on the bed. At that point I made arrangements to stay somewhere else, further away from town, despite the fact that it was very late in the day and many other hotels were sold out for the night. I was expecting to find a basic, clean place to sleep, that was within easy drive to downtown Halifax. When I stayed there before it was a clean, if modest motor Inn, which was all that I expected. This time however, I found that it was ill kept and rundown, poorly lit, and gave the appearance of being less than a safe place to spend the night.
