Friendly, clean, comfortable

We booked two rooms at the Victoria for 3 nights while at a research conference downtown. Our first impression was the genuinely friendly and helpful staff at the desk, and this was the case throughout our stay. The rooms were surprisingly large and were very comfortable, although the bathrooms were quite small. We had a short 10-minute walk to our meetings and it was pleasant to return to a safe, comfortable place every night. We will definitely stay there again!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Marche restaurant across the street was tasty with lots of options as a choose-your-own-station Swiss-style setup.

I encourage people to become tourists in your home town and enjoy this hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated, with bonus amenities like apple TV, and free wifi. Frontline staff are accommodating and friendly. Housekeeping is thorough, yet need to understand what Do not disturb means. Attached to a restaurant without a room service deal in place. Makes little sense. They could use a frequent guest program. Need a snack machine. But the overall experience was great, close to the buzz. Extremely comfortable beds, pillow top heaven. Excellent shower pressure, hot water always hot. Complimentary newspapers....couple nice touches but it could be easily polished with some forward thinking.

comfortable but small, no views

Comfy bed, quiet, tiny 5th floor room with views of brick walls. Everything was clean and worked. Larger and more expensive rooms get the street view. Friendly staff. Fit my modest needs.

From a Torontonian

Since I was at a 2 day conference at the convention centre and went to the baseball on the first day, I chose this hotel because I did not want to fight the traffic in the morning and it was very economical for the location. I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff - from the front desk to the housekeepers. I would definitely come back here and recommend this.

Great location for a hockey fan/shopper

Visited Canada and Toronto for the first time ever for a relative's wedding and chose the hotel randomly without knowing much about the city itself. The hotel proved to have a superb location on a mainstreet in downtown close to many sights, and the price was very reasonable! The staff was also very friendly & helpful, especially after my purse was stolen on the first day in Toronto. If you are a hockey fan/shopper, like I am, you should choose Hotel Victoria. It's located very close to Hockey Hall of Fame and Air Canada Centre. Hotel Victoria is close to a subway station, and it only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the city center. Additionally, probably Toronto's best Irish pub is opposite to the hotel. There is also a very nice restaurant adjoining the hotel, where you can have a good and delicious breakfasts. The staff was very friendly there, too. There is also a sandwich bar next to the hotel. The hotel room itself was clean and spacious, but perhaps a little bit weary and would have needed extra lighting. There was a fridge, too, which was nice. Bathroom was clean and ok. Earplugs are good to have with you, since there was some noise from cars on the street during the nights. There is a free WLAN at the hotel, and they have a Mac at the lobby for the use of hotel visitors. I surely could go there again.

You should visit the restaurant "Marché" opposite to the hotel. It has different stands for different kinds of food, and the staff makes the meals from scratch while you wait. You get a card that you swipe at every stand when you order. I loved the salad bar and the balsamico dressing there.

Parking in this area can get expensive, so if you don't need a car, don't rent or bring one. The hotel is very convenient to public transportation.

Hotel Victoria, Toronto

A small room, but fully adequate for our needs. Very comfortable queen bed. High quality bathroom, plenty spacious. Exercise facilities are off site and were not available early a.m. on weekends. Well located. Overall good value.

Excellent location and service!

The hotel is in a central location. You can walk to the hotel from the Airport Express stop at the Royal York Hotel. Easy! Great food on the block-- bargains! Free Wi-Fi and totally dependable. I needed some printing done and all I needed to do is to send the document as an email attachment to the front desk email and the staff printed out my paper. No cost. Staff was very friendly. Only complaint: no room service of the hotel.
