Christmas 2011 trip to Toronto
Hotel's location was great. Reviews about the hotel were accurate. The hotel desperately needs update in all areas including swimming pool and sauna area. Hotel staff were very friendly, welcoming and very helpful! We were assigned to a room upon our arrival but the bed was making noise and sheets were all thorn and very very old! I complained to the front desk and they immediately changed the room and it was better than our original room. Great hotel for the money, so if you set your expectations right at the beginning, it might be a fun getaway hotel in Toronto!

Decent, and better value that the Hiltons/Sheratons etc.
Slow check in was the only downside - good hotel for business travelers.

Had a lot of fun, hotel was good, great location to Massey Hall, Eaton Center, and City Hall (all walking distance). Would stay again for a night if going to a concert. Price was good for a Hotel in the center of everything.

Good Location in a Great City!
I think I might have lucked out more than normal with the room (room 1603), because the view was absolutely AMAZING! (I don't think it was as good on the other side of the hotel.) I had a great view of the CN tower and downtown. It also was within a great distance of the St. Patrick Subway station - which was great for getting around the rest of the city! It was slightly more than I would usually pay, but it was a great place to rest up from traveling all around town and the bed was EXTREMELY comfortable! :)

Misleading
Don't be deceived by this hotels photos. It is extremely out dated and small. The wireless only worked in a small portion of the room, it had pealling wall paper, and climate control system that could only be set to burning hot or subzero cold. The location was the only plus to this hotel, it provided front door access to most everything you could want in the GTA area.

Metropolitan Hotel
Great location and great price but this is truly a 3-star hotel. Not even close to 4. You'll hear the elevators everytime they get to your floor and there is a good chance the carpet in your room will be beat up beyond recognition. The bed is comfy.
