Room was terrible
The room was very small 10X10. Electrical wiring was exposed, the sink was not secured and leaked, the bathroom was so small that when you sat on the toilet your knees went through the wall, the bed was 6 inches off the ground, the cities busiest hospital was right across the street with ambulance sirens blaring constantly. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Terrible isnt even the word to describe it!!!! Very dissatisfied

A step above a youth hostel
Excellent location. Easy walk to Old Montreal, parking garages, Latin Quarter and more. Rooms were just large enough for the bed. My room had no chair. Shared bathroom in the hall. Very clean. Staff was friendly. Skip the continental breakfast - even for $5, it's not worth it.

Better than camping
Our party rented two rooms - this is our 2nd review based on the 2nd room. One of the walls in our room did not go all the way to the ceiling - which left it open to a hallway used by other guests and meant that we had light coming into our room after all our lights were off. We shared a bathroom with two other rooms. There was no soundproofing. Two of us could not walk past the bed at the same time - that's how small the room was. The miniature tv was mounted on a shelf high above the head of our bed. To watch it, we would have to look through a mirror at the foot of our bed, sit/lay backwards in bed, or sit on the one stained chair in the room. Fortunately, we didn't come to Montreal to watch tv! The bed was extremely squeaky/rattly. Just sitting on it seemed like it would wake other guests. For our $5 continental breakfast, there was no hot water for tea. Breakfast consisted of two slices of not-fresh white bread, a croissant and orange juice. Next time, we'd find a coffee shop. Aside from that, the location, cleanliness and staff were all great.

Cleanliness and quality lacking
the first reason why i chose this hotel was its location. Even though it was right in front of a hospital, it didn't disappoint. Old port was a few blocks along St. Denis towards the river, and the booming night life of St. Denis and St. Catherine in the other direction. Although the hotel had some chique renovations and artsy touches, some important pieces were missing. The beds were quite bad and springy, and some of the other furniture was a little used. TV was tiny and lighting in the room pretty bad. But more importantly, even though we had a private bathroom, it was not separated from the room except by the curtain (and shower in the corner of the room), which is a little unpleasant for doing your business with your partner in the room. But MOST importantly, I think we had bed bugs in our bed since I came back with bites on my arm.. The price was good, and there are some things to enjoy about the place, but you're taking some risks with critters and a few notches down on the bed/room quality.

BED BUGS! BEWARE
Do not be fooled by the pictures on the website. I was! First, the website said the hotel has parking. I went to the front desk and they said that parking was full. They then pointed me to the nearest parking lot which was expensive and I was surprised that my car was still there the next morning. Next, I checked into the hotel and noticed the toilet didn't flush. I went to the front desk and told them the toilet wouldn't flush and they handed me a plunger and told me to fix it myself. The next morning, I noticed dozens of bed bugs on the sheets and comforter. I reported this immediately to the front desk and they refused to acknowledge the problem. They refused to refund my money even though I checked out of the hotel before the end of my stay. Also, there is no elevator in the hotel with steep stairs going to the upper floors. The motel does not have air conditioning as well. The room we stayed in had a small, apartment-sized air conditioning unit in the room that was old and musty. If you are strictly going for price and location, then have at it. Otherwise, do not expect anything more than what you would get at a hostile for one third f the price. They charged us $122/night for a queen-sized bed full of bed bugs.

Good luck
to anyone staying at this hotel. There are 3 floors, no elevators, and if you drove good luck with parking. There are only 2 spots available down a dark alley. The price to park was 15$ per day and I honestly feared for my car. If you do happen to book here there is a biblioteque (library) near station berri UQAM that is in a secure garage for 12$ per day. The hotel staff here are not helpful what-so-ever. They are very indifferent to whatever your situation. Our "private" bathroom was not inside the room. It was two doors down the hall. Not all the electric outlets worked and the keys tended to stick in the locks. In fact the hotel had to have a locksmith change the lock on our bathroom door because the key would not come out. We had no use of a private bathroom for almost an entire day of our trip and we received no compensation for this. The floors in the room were faux hardwood new and clean. Thats as far as it went for "clean" at hotel celebrities. The location was perfect for easy access to downtown, financial, old Montreal, the port and gay village.

It's lovely!
I waited too long to book a hotel and I found this a few days before my trip. I was nervous due to some bad reviews I read, but after a charming stay with my boyfriend, I would highly recommend this place to a family, group of friends, or couples, who appreciate a brilliant paint job and aren't frightened by imperfection. There is even an outdoor patio with cute tables and chairs. Our room was huge. It was more like an apartment. Street parking was easy on Fri/Sat nights. The staff was very pleasant, but we did not need them other to check in.

BEDBUGS
I went to Montreal for a long weekend. The hotel seemed ok, a bit strange and stuffy, but ok. The rooms are really small and dark, and there are no night lamps. But the really bad part is: BEDBUGS. I found out about them when I came back, I am bitten all over me. I just called and the receptionist (whose English was rather poor) was very nonchalant about it, telling me "oh, there are bedbugs in all of Montreal", and saying I would have needed to find out while there. Now they will not do anything. Poor service too!

Not impressed
I went to Montreal for a short trip with a few friends. I liked the fact that the hotel was located in downtown close to the attractions. Besides the location, everything else was terrible. Our room was dirty, the bed had no head board and the mattress and bed sheets were dirty. Washroom was not pleasant. Overall, I enjoyed my trip, but the hotel did not do it for me.
