Great Honeymoon Experience

This was overall a fantastic hotel to spend our honeymoon at. I would recommend this place for anyone but probably more so for large families. Some of the positives included: 1) Amazing beach and pool area with really good chairs that were very comfortable. Very clean and well maintained. In July/Aug there are plenty of chairs (unlike the Ritz and some other hotels). 2) Great rooms. Spacious with kitchenette, dining room table, couch, etc. that are cleaned daily. 3) Sidebar with happy hour 50% off from 4-7pm. The people that worked their were exceptionally friendly and provided great service. Negatives included: 1) The pool area was a bit heavy on the kids. This didn't bother us too much as we like kids but I can see how this would be a little annoying as they were at times pretty loud and took up a lot of the pool area. I think the suites tends to understandably draw large families to the hotel. 2) Expensive. Once you got there drinks and food prices were ridiculously expensive. We were not quite prepared for this. We got there and had a couple of sandwiches and 2 drinks and it was 75$. This is pretty common across the whole island but I wish the hotel provided a little bit of discount for guests because all it did was push us out to other bars and restaurants. We quickly made a trip to the local grocer. 3) Hemingway's (their upscale restaurant was closed for construction the entire time we were there. It would have been nice to know this going into it as we were excited to get some nicer dinners their during our stay. Service was generally very good with a couple of really good apples and a couple of bad apples. Every once in awhile you come into contact with a rude worker but for the most part everyone was pretty helpful. Concierge did not tell us about public bus service so we wasted quite a bit of money on cabs. Also, be sure to bring your own DVDs to watch in the rooms.

Take public buses, stock up at grocery stores, and be sure to look at menu prices before going to eat places. Sometimes much better dinner deals when you eat inland.

7 Mile Beach

Great location on 7 Mile Beach - beautiful beach and clear aqua blue calm warm water. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Large rooms - good for families. We took the free shuttle out to the Turtle Farm, a shuttle picked us up and we jet skiied out to Sting Ray City, Rum Point, the Reef and Star Fish Point, took the city bus system out to George Town, tried some Conch Fritters and snorkled at Eden Rock. Also, took the Atlantis Submarine down 100 feet - great way to see the bottom of the ocean if you are not a scuba diver. Beautiful island, friendly people "no problem - yes mon', gorgeous ocean. There is a good breakfast spot across the street - Lauren's Cafe - great berries and creme anglaise crepes, and a nice dinner restuarant across the street - Deckers - great lobster (all you can eat) and lobster risotto with grilled shrimp. Also, close by Camana Bay for shopping and dining. The resort has everything, pool, spa, bars, Red Sail Sports on location, beach chairs. Compared to other trips - it's not Hawaii and it's not the Ritz Carlton but very enjoyable and easy to access from the east coast of the USA.

Well needed rejuvenation!

Absolutely perfect! The hotel is located on the beach. Whether sitting on the balcony with coffee watching the ocean or down on one of the plentiful beach lounge chairs watching the sunset. After growing up visiting the Jersey shore, whew I'm speechless. Staff is on spot. Amazingly friendly, helpful, always smiling. Staff greeted us with a glass of champagne upon arrival and wished a safe journey home at departure. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!

Spring Break 2014

Hotel is well positioned on SMB and has a wonderfully small size. Staff was very helpful and made the trip a success. The pull out bed in the 1 BR suite is doable at best-- thank God kids have good backs. We will be back though- overall its a keeper!

Great Hotel on Seven Mile Beach

Hotel was very nice, as expected, centrally located and had a very nice restaurant Hemmingway's, with a really good breakfast buffet/ brunch. The pool and beach facilities were great and water activities such as sunset cruises and scuba diving through Red Sail Sports were easy to schedule, on site and excellent. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful and overall great experience on Grand Cayman. Rooms were spacious and well appointed with separate dining and living rooms, and we thoroughly enjoyed our last few days relaxing and walking on the beautiful beach. Trips into Georgetown were only a few miles away and hotel was also close to airport.

Need to look for ocean from the room.

Maybe there is only one (1) 1King Bed with Sofabed ocean view. This is very odd room compared with all other room. Size is Ok but this is not "Oceanview". It should be "can see ocean limitedly" or "Partial ocean view". 2F room and very near by elevator and Hot tab & bar at 1F. Little loudly. Do not book even the price looks fine. Except that, it was fantastic. BTW, restaurants price was always very expensive.

Great Choice

some reviews mention the construction next door. We saw it, but never heard it from the room. We loved the place because; - Quick ride to the airport - All the rooms are suites - Beach was clean, not crowded - Comfortable, Canopied loungers on the beach, not stacked one on the other. - Nice pools, not crawling with noisy unsupervised children - Everyone was friendly - Red Sails Sports HQ on site. - Crystal clear water, snorkeling right from the beach - Food at the restaurant (Hemmingway's) pretty good for all meals. - Another restaurant across the street (Decker's) and a cheaper breakfast spot, (Lauren's) also across the street. - Wine shop across the street.
