Visitors to Grand Cayman Beach Suites, formerly Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, enjoy one of the island's finest all-suite luxury beach resorts in the Caymans. A series of improvements led to the resort being named a Frommers' Top 25 luxury hotel in Caribbean travel and leisure. Enjoy 53 deluxe beach suites, beachfront access to Seven Mile Beach, the Britannia Golf Course, a 24-hour fitness center, deluxe European boutique spa, water sports facilities and activities, and three of the island's best known restaurants.

Rooms

Suites offer ocean, beach, and pool views from a step-out or full balcony. One bedroom suites, with a maximum occupancy of four adults or two adults and three children, include a king-size bed in the bedroom and one queen size sofa sleeper in the living room, and a dining area for four. Two bedroom suites, maximum occupancy of six, include a king and a queen bed, respectively, in two bedrooms connected by a shared bath, plus a queen sleep sofa in the living area. All air-conditioned suites include a ceiling fan, color television, wet bar, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, iron/ironing board, in-room safe, hair dryer, and workstation with data port. Four two-bedroom ocean front suites, at 680 square feet, include a fully furnished terrace overlooking Seven Mile Beach.

Property features

The resort features two pools, one with a swim-up bar overlooking the Caribbean, the other with a Jacuzzi. The newly opened La Mer Spa offers a wide range of aromatherapy massages, facials, and manicures.

Active guests play a round at Britannia Golf Club, the Caribbean's first Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf course that spans from the ocean to North Sound, or visit Red Sail Sports to arrange any ocean activity, from snorkeling with stingrays to reef diving to a sunset catamaran sail.

Onsite dining includes Hemingway's Restaurant, voted one of the top three restaurants in the Caribbean by Wine Spectator magazine. Reservations are a must at this beachside restaurant, which features sophisticated Caribbean cuisine. Guests choose Bamboo Restaurant for its high-energy lounge and sushi bar, while Britannia Grille at the golf course offers casual fare on an open air patio. Good stay with one caveat

Grand Cayman Beach Suites was in an overbooked situation the first night that we were in Grand Cayman. This resulted in our being shifted to the Westin for one night and then being moved back to the Beach Suites. As a result, our holiday started on a bad note. However, the hotel did make amends by providing coupons for full breakfasts in their restaurant and by giving us a $100 credit.

Amazing no complaints

I have no complaints, the room was amazing and spacious. Restaurants were within a 5 min walking distance. Beach was amazing, hotel staff were pleasant and well mannered. This will be my go to hotel if I visit the island again. Hotel is about 10 min from airport. Wifi is not included but can be had for $10 (US)

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Buy your liquor before boarding the plane to Cayman Islands if you want to save money. Also note that liquor is well priced and duty free at the local airport when your trip is over.

Great Honeymoon Experience

This was overall a fantastic hotel to spend our honeymoon at. I would recommend this place for anyone but probably more so for large families. Some of the positives included: 1) Amazing beach and pool area with really good chairs that were very comfortable. Very clean and well maintained. In July/Aug there are plenty of chairs (unlike the Ritz and some other hotels). 2) Great rooms. Spacious with kitchenette, dining room table, couch, etc. that are cleaned daily. 3) Sidebar with happy hour 50% off from 4-7pm. The people that worked their were exceptionally friendly and provided great service. Negatives included: 1) The pool area was a bit heavy on the kids. This didn't bother us too much as we like kids but I can see how this would be a little annoying as they were at times pretty loud and took up a lot of the pool area. I think the suites tends to understandably draw large families to the hotel. 2) Expensive. Once you got there drinks and food prices were ridiculously expensive. We were not quite prepared for this. We got there and had a couple of sandwiches and 2 drinks and it was 75$. This is pretty common across the whole island but I wish the hotel provided a little bit of discount for guests because all it did was push us out to other bars and restaurants. We quickly made a trip to the local grocer. 3) Hemingway's (their upscale restaurant was closed for construction the entire time we were there. It would have been nice to know this going into it as we were excited to get some nicer dinners their during our stay. Service was generally very good with a couple of really good apples and a couple of bad apples. Every once in awhile you come into contact with a rude worker but for the most part everyone was pretty helpful. Concierge did not tell us about public bus service so we wasted quite a bit of money on cabs. Also, be sure to bring your own DVDs to watch in the rooms.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take public buses, stock up at grocery stores, and be sure to look at menu prices before going to eat places. Sometimes much better dinner deals when you eat inland.

7 Mile Beach

Great location on 7 Mile Beach - beautiful beach and clear aqua blue calm warm water. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Large rooms - good for families. We took the free shuttle out to the Turtle Farm, a shuttle picked us up and we jet skiied out to Sting Ray City, Rum Point, the Reef and Star Fish Point, took the city bus system out to George Town, tried some Conch Fritters and snorkled at Eden Rock. Also, took the Atlantis Submarine down 100 feet - great way to see the bottom of the ocean if you are not a scuba diver. Beautiful island, friendly people "no problem - yes mon', gorgeous ocean. There is a good breakfast spot across the street - Lauren's Cafe - great berries and creme anglaise crepes, and a nice dinner restuarant across the street - Deckers - great lobster (all you can eat) and lobster risotto with grilled shrimp. Also, close by Camana Bay for shopping and dining. The resort has everything, pool, spa, bars, Red Sail Sports on location, beach chairs. Compared to other trips - it's not Hawaii and it's not the Ritz Carlton but very enjoyable and easy to access from the east coast of the USA.

Good time

Just returned from our stay and overall had a great time. This resort/hotel is kid friendly. The pool always had a bunch of kids in it, which was great for us since we were traveling with our 7 year old. Probably not ideal for couples traveling alone, looking for a romantic spot. The room was clean. Had a small fridge and microwave. Would have been nice to have a stove since everything is very expensive on the island and cooking would have saved some money. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast buffet at Hemingway's was a nice way to start the day. The hotel is very centrally located. We did rent a car for the entire time but could have probably done without it for a few days. There is a Hertz rental place across the street in case you would want to venture out for the day. We ordered room service one day and although it was "ok", it was certainly over-priced. There are many other better options within walking distance. Would recommend it overall and if we find another good deal, would stay again
