Excellent Hotel for families!

After much internet research we finally decided on Lee Garden Service Apts because of the price and the fact that we could get a 2 bedroom apartment. When we arrived and checked-in, we could not have been happier with the hotel!! Its in a very nice part of town, right on the main street. Close to subways, buses, shopping malls, and snack street (if you are hungry for a fried bug or something). The valets were always friendly and helpful, and we got 4 bottles of water each day in our room. Having seperate sleeping rooms made all the difference because we were traveling with a baby who needed to go to bed early. Also, the room had a tiny washer/dryer which really helped keep our packing to a minimum. The baby crib they supplied was not too great, pretty rickity. The room key had a $600 US deposit! That was a bit much I think! Other than that, we loved this hotel and would absolutly recommend it to anyone!

The only complaint with the room is that the AC didn't cool the room down enough. Other than that the hotel was great.
The staff was very friendly and sppoke excellent English. The accomodations weren't lavish, but were perfect for what we needed. We had plenty of room to spread out with our kids, it was very clean, and everything was in good repair and cosmetically in good shape. The kitchen was also a nice addition so we could leisurely enjoy our breakfast.
The walk to the Forbidden City took about 15 minutes, and there were also plenty of restaurants and shops in close proximity. The subway was three blocks away which made it very easy to avoid the traffic and head a little further away.

Everything on our 3 day visit worked out surprisingly well, with the exception that I left feeling that the upgrade I was sold on arrival (better room/facilties) did not prove to be particularly good value for money.

The Hotel was very close to the Forbiden City, was a few blocks and you get there. You can also go by a taxi if you don`t want to walk. It takes several minutes to get to the entrance. Besides this the Hotel is in a quiet place and the room was confortable and very clean.

The location was between the night market and Forbidden City. Both were short walks away. The hotel staff, especially the bellmen were polite and helpful and spoke engish very well. I took a tour to the Great wall one day and walked to the Forbidden city the other. Both were worthwhile experiences.

Ok - there may be better appointed or more luxurious, but it doesn't get better than the Kapok. Fantastic location near the Forbidden City, Tianamen and the shopping streets, only about 2.5 KM to the silk market. The staff is fantastic. I travel the world for business and have found none better! Restaurant was quite good and a good value as well. When I am in Beijing, I don't even look at other places. This is my home away from home in China's capital city.

This hotel was close to most of the big attractions in Beijing. It was nice to be able to walk everywhere or catch a bus close by. The hotel offers some inexpensive day tours, which was great! Aside from those things though, the reception desk was not very helpful and the hotel offers only basic amenities. If you are traveling on a budget it is good, but expect to figure things out on your own. I was not fond of the 200 Yaun deposit for the minibar as I was traveling with cash only and had a limited amount. If you only plan on being at your hotel to sleep, this is great choice, but if you are looking for someplace to relax and enjoy yourself, it is probably worth the extra cash to go to a nicer hotel.

In Beijing, it is paramont that a hotel be near a metro line because of heavy traffic. This hotel is in a great location right outside of the Metro #2 Line. It is also easy to catch a taxi as it is near the center.
The amenities of the hotel are okay. It is bit of worn here and there. But given the rate I got, I'd say it was the best value anywhere in Beijing for a 4* hotel.
I would stay in this hotel again if the rate remains as attrative as it was.

The location is wonderful. I could find the location very easily, and since it was in the middle of the city, I was able to get around quickly and easily. It is next to a major subway station, so finding my way around was not difficult.
The hotel is a bit older, but well kept. Overall, it was very good.

This is a "boutique" hotel in that number of rooms are not large and rooms themselves are quite small. Furniture is minimal but overall effect is really cozy and modern.
Location couldn't be better...both Tianamen Square and The Forbidden City are within walking distance - about 10 minutes away and there is a large shopping district also about 10 minutes away by foot where you can buy all the brands.
My only wish was that the restaurant featured more dishes, but there is a Days Cafe across the street that offers both China and Western Cuisine for a very reasonable cost.

Do not get on top floor...airplanes! Our first stay was on the bottom floor and the room great. We had issues with the shuttle pickup at the airport. It was very late and we had to call hotel.

During my week long adventure in Beijing I was thoroughly impressed with the remarkably helpful staff at the Central Plaza Holiday Inn. Everyone from the concierge to the restaurant workers were so diligent and hard working, they went above and beyond to make sure customers were satisfied. They had a spa, pool, gym, yoga classes, a sauna and beauty salon. They also offered complimentary drinks with snacks all day and alcoholic beverages in the evening. Other than people spitting in the pool despite the sign that says not to and the fact that the chef coughs over the buffet in one of the four hotel restaurants, it was overall a smooth experience. The location of this hotel is not near any train stations and is further out west from the down town area. Although the area is far from major tourist attractions its only a few blocks away from the man made moat where people go fishing and close to local clothing shops and supermarkets.

five star hotel, new and rooms are very beautiful. Loved the rain fall shower, 5 mins walk to wan Fu jing shopping st, lively street. I've stayed in many hotels in Beijing , this and Wanda sofitel are my favorites. Except a luxury room here costs only abbot 150 a night. For a five star, love it !

good connection for public transport; at the junction of two metro lines (2, 5). Hotel staff is always very helpful with the translation of adresses and other stuff. A lot of different Restaurants and one small grocery within the hotel (at little bit overpriced compared to outside restaurants IMO).
The standard rooms are quite small and furnished in a rather decent way; however they look quite clean.
The breakfast offers a wide variety of different food stuff (western style; no chinese food). For my taste a little bit too american, but tasty. Make sure that you dont arrive at peak times during breakfast (around 7:30/8 am) during tourist season (september/oktober) since you have to wait a little while (5-10 minutes) for a free desk.

The location was ideal for a brief stopover. There were department store aplenty to grab something to eat, only 20 minutes away from the airport with taxi fare costing less than 100RMB each way.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and room service was adequate.
It wasn't spectacular but the Novotel in Chongwenmen did all the essentials rather well.
Certainly won't feel short changed after you stay here.

Nice hotel good rooms nice shower. The only problem I had was the location was so far from the center. I was so disappointed because when I was making reservation it says 1.8 N miles away from the center and it even shows in the map that it is in the north side of the Forbidden city. The only reason I chose the hotel was location and being close to the center, but unfortunately it was so far from ther center almost 14 miles. It was so inconvenience and had to get taxi all the time to go to the main history sites. We also had to pay a lot to get to the airport because of the wrong information. Beside that we liked the hotel but wish they were honest and could give us correct information.

Beware! Hotel Management are Crooks!

I waited a month to write this review, to cool down and consider my thoughts first.
I hope nobody else has been ripped off as I and my co-travelers were. If you stay at this hotel, you will find clean rooms and mediocre food. The location is very convenient. If it had stayed at that, I'd have been delighted.
However, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EXCHANGE MONEY AT THIS HOTEL if you stay there. I and seven others were given counterfeit 100RMB notes when we exchanged dollars. When we discovered this, the hotel manager and his boss both blamed us.
We contacted the police, who did a brief investigation and agreed with us, and told the hotel to give us the proper cash. The hotel refused. The police then, to our dismay, did very little. We left the city later that day, so had no chance to follow up.
Worse still, Holiday Inn and the Intercontinental Hotels Group did nothing for us. Forget rectifying the hundreds of dollars of theft. They refused even to take action against that hotel or even to look into it, saying that what hotels do regarding currency exchange has nothing to do with them. This was said to me on the phone. I then wrote to the company online and via mail, and have not even received the courtesy of acknowledgement. Very interesting.
Personally, I will avoid all hotels that are part of IHG in the future just for this policy. But my main purpose here is to caution people against the Temple of Heaven hotel in particular, and if you do stay there, to use a legitimate bank to convert your currency, do not use the front desk at the hotel!

The outside of the Hotel was beautiful during the night; however during the day was not so plesant. I could not believe how small the rooms were and I was placed in a room with twins beds. I was with my husband not my brother. We tried to order room services and was not able to get what was on the menu or No one could understand what I asked for. I could not get clean towels because the front desk did not understand. We could not get a taxi to the Olympic Media Center for several hours because once again, one one understood what we were asking. I was very disappointed with my Hotel stay and would not recommned The temple of Heaven to anyone.

The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was polite but lack overall efficiency. I made two reservations and only one showed. I had to print out the reservations to prove myself and had to explain every day the same details. Same thing occurred at checkout where they wanted to charge me more than what was indicated on the reservation. I had to, once again, print out another reservation proof. What a hassle. Besides that, the hotel vacinity did not have much restaurants or stores besides the Sidan Shopping Mall. I would not stay there again.

Would recommend staying here. Staff are friendly and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. Had dinner in restaurant and would also recommend this as there is a good buffet dinner option and the wait staff are great. Used the hotels tour desk which I can also recommend. Position is good. Only one metro stop to Forbidden City and Tianamen Square. Also walking distance to Xidan department store area and good coffee lounge.

We had a nice time. The place was clean and pretty well kept, nice overall. There were some OK Chinese chain restaurants nearby. The Olympic park, including the Bird's Nest stadium can be seen from some of the deluxe outside facing rooms. Subway stop 10 minutes walk away. Not the greatest location, but not terrible either.

I think its a new hotel, rooms were clean but no fridge. Staff were helpful. Location is good, with the supermarket nearby and some outlet shops behind the hotel, near to olympic green, water cube , bird nest and subway. Most taxi drivers have a hard time finding the exact location of this hotel. Other than that, all is a-ok.

None of the first 3 taxi rides I had could find the place! The second day they closed off the entrance to do some repairs to the road..so I had to schlep my bags down the road a bit. Very close to the silk market which was convenient. Breakfast is around the corner in a local Chinese coffee shop....left a little to be desired! There was coffee..most of the hot food was cold, but I managed to get them to warm things up in a microwave. The staff did not speak English for the most part. The bed was comfortable enough...bathroom pretty inadequate .... the lighting was terrible and the shower was above the sink. The 2 story apartment seemed very dated and it was clean, but it felt a bit dirty, if that makes any sense! The stairs are a bit scary if you are jetlagged! I admit I am used to a better hotel room, but was willing to adjust, as it was a holiday and many hotels were full. I would not stay again, but having said that it may be adequate for someone on a budget who is not going to spend much time in the room.

the hotel stay was pleasant. One of the main concerns for me was the hot temperature in Beijing. The AC in the unit we stayed was pretty powerful. Although when we first arrived, the AC downstairs was not cooling and I had to call service, which promptly arrived. After half an hour, the AC started to work and I was advised not to use both units (upstairs and downstairs) at the same time as the units do not have the compressor exposed to the air outside and subject to self protection shutoff.
The rooms were huge (2 bd unit). We initially stayed at a 1-bd unit, which was also large for its size. Very secure as there are several card-operated entrances including elevator. The card doesn't work very well as we constantly had to swipe several times before it would work. The first time we went to our room, neither card worked on our room and I had to go back to the front desk to reprogram the cards.
There was pool table to used for free. No wifi in the room but there is free wired internet in the room. Free wifi in the adjacent coffee shop. There is a business center downstairs with computers. No pool.

I had to spend a night in BJ waiting for my flight the next day. Convenient transfer to and from terminals.
Hotel is clean, comfortable. The staff speak only rudimentary English, comprehension is one notch worse than rudimentary.
The hotel saves the trouble with the BJ traffic, it is perfect for one night.

This is a nice hotel and i would have gave it good marks all round apart from the fact they slugged me for internet usage. On booking, under " room facilities" i assumed this was free like all other hotels i have stayed in in China, but not so, beware.....
