Beijing Redwall Hotel Forbidden City

The room was cold when we arrived at 1am and the bed was the hardest i've ever slept on, i think the floor would have been as comfortable. We only ate in the resturant once because it was so cold, most people eating there ate with a coat on. On the plus side, all the staff were extremely pleasent and helpful.

Location is great for Forbidden City and parks but not much else.You need to travel a fair distance to most other attractions or shopping areas.Their idea of a short walk is about 45 minutes! The rooms we booked were not given to us and the excuse was that to them all rooms are the same! So certainly don't pay for anything more than the basics. [You have a refidgerator don't you?] Airconditioning/heating is a joke..totally uncontrollable. The really unfortunate thing about all the negatives is that the people working there [ or most of them anyway] were the freindliest and most helpful we have come across in China [ twice yearly trips for 7 years]. Most have excellent english speaking skills which is a real bonus. But no one will of course buck the company policy despite the fact that they would like to help out as much as they can.

We did not have any problems with English & staff were very friendly and more than helpful. We were given an upgrade to a Chinese room, which looked a treat, but the bed was against the wall, so we asked to be put back to a standard room. The standard room was quite nice & a little more spacious. Carpets were a little old, but room & bathroom were clean. Hotel was located very close to the back entrance of the Forbidden City, so was within walking distance. Breakfast was a little more Asian than my husband would have liked, but was still okay & edible. Needed to get there early for more variety. Overall our stay was comfortable and certainly value for money.

Service was excellent Beds however are like sleeping on a concrete slab. This hotel must have searched the world for the hardest beds possible ( i actually checked to make sure that they were actually mattresses) Other than that this is a GOOD hotel

Decent hotel for the price. Located near the forbidden city but a little far from the nearest subway station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was tidy. Would consider staying there again.

Wonderful stay. Friendly staff who were happy to let us practice our Mandarin. Comfortable rooms - recommend the traditional rooms. Clean. Perfect location. Will definitely return.

Das Redwall Hotel ist ein typisch chinesisches Hotel, ausgesattet nach chinesischem Standard. (viel Kitsch, wenig Komfort, kaum Service) Das Personal war schon bei der Ankunft unfreundlich und vorwurfsvoll. Uns wurde zuerst ein Zimmer im Keller, ohne Fenster!!!! angeboten. Nach viel hin und her haben wir doch ein Zimmer im 2. Stock bekommen. Das Bett war ok und sauber, jedoch der Teppisch total verschmutzt. Frühstück ein absolutes no-go! Fazit: investier lieber ein bischen mehr, damit man ein gescheites Hotel buchen kann, z.B. eine Kette wie Marriott oder Hilton, es lohnt sich!

L'hotel est bien situé, juste derrière la Cité Interdite. L'hotel aurait besoin d'un rafraichissement, surtout au niveau de la moquette. Le personnel était très serviable, le restauarnt pour le PDJ était mal chauffé.
