Very dirty, unhelpfull staff, horrible area
The hotel is dirty (there was even a crock roach trap in our room), the personnel barely speaks english and is unwilling to help out with their limited english, the area is convenient to the main attractions.

Great location But...
Great location between Forbidden City and Wangfujing, but this is a "locally" run hotel with all that that means in China. The staff were OK but they do lack a degree of customer service and attention that you would normally expect. The rooms are pretty spartan, well in need of renovation and come complete with the almost obligatory rock hard bed. I travel to Beijing frequently and i always like to try out new places, but i am unlikely to revisit this one.

Jade Garden Hotel
Hotel was a great location. The room was fine. English comprehension is not good. The staff was helpful when they could understand what you were requesting. They have bicycles onsite you can rent which was great. Do not book any daytrips from the hotel. Go to the hostel around the corner for a better price and someone who can speak better english so you know what you are getting on your sidetrip.

Use the hostel around the corner to book any daytrips. Rent a bicycle from the hotel for a day for all sightseeing around the Forbidden city.

great location, very good service
very close to the forbidden city and other downtown attractions. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Room was fine - nothing special, but nice enough. Restaurant for breakfast was extensive, while mostly western food.

Very close to the Forbidden City
Great bed soft but firm, room very clean and comfortable. Only 2 English channels on TV-- CNN and Star movies Only 5-8 minute walk to the Forbidden City The concierge was VERY helpful and spoke good English A little expensive for me. I would look around more next time.
