One day stopover at Beijing
The best feature of the hotel is its centric location - an easy walking distance to a major commercial district and a long walk to the Forbidden City, Tianaman Square.... The worst part is its staff, not friendly or helpful. Breakfast is too expensive for a pedestrian quality variety and quality. Has amenities that most short-term travelers would not use. I'd rather have a lower price than features that I won't use.

Nice place, but shunned by taxis
We failed a number of times to persuade taxis to take us to the hotel. Granted, we know no Chinese. But in the past, travelling in China -- including Beijing -- I have been able to show the driver the hotel's name and address (written in Chinese on card provided by the hotel or an internet printout.) The driver at the airport refused to take use there, directing us instead to a high-priced shuttle. I didn't think too much of it at the time, reasoning that it was just a money-making arrangement on their part. But then we were turned down about 4 additional times, using the little taxi card provided by the hotel. When we finally inquired of the concierge why taxis wouldn't serve us, the hotel employee speculated that it was because of the location -- within in a hutong area, something that they might have mentioned before... (She then wrote on our taxi card that it is near the Peninsula.) Someone else speculated it was because of the traffic pattern. Regardless it was a major inconvenience, as well as costly.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
The subway. Ask the concierge to mark up a map (at the counter) with subway directions. The trip to the Summer Palace involved a number of transfers, but was well worth it.

There is an old wing with dated rooms. The main building I am guessing has nicer (and more expensive?) rooms. PRetty disappointing overall. No personality. Horrible carpets.

Awesome, but could be better
I've visited this hotel hotel in December and I was surprised in April that the price almost doubled for the superior room. Moreover it was absolutely unpredictable that the breakfast was not included. There was no information on the site about breakfast and was sure it was included. Other than that the hotel is great, nice location, pedestrian street is in a walking distance. Staff was also great.

Excellent location to the shopping
Excellent location to the shopping localities and close to the Forbidden City and Tenimen Square. The older part building where we stayed was a little outdated and needs a refurbishment. No doubt the new wing would be more modern. Reception staff were very helpful and could speak good English The restaurant was very good for buffet braekfast and dinner.

Rather clean for Beijing. Very
Rather clean for Beijing. Very good location, decent breakfast. They claim to have WiFi only on their "premier" floors and in the lobby, but you can occasionally get signal on other floors as well. BUT the internet is dropping very frequently and slow. All in all, for Beijing centre - good hotel. It might be cheaper, but for this price it's almost OK.
