SunWorld Hotel

The 24 hour room service is great for a business traveler like me who works throughout the evening. The location is great because of all the dining options outside of the hotel. Very clean and quite a bargain. One of the shower doors was missing and replaced with a curtain which didn't do that great of a job keeping the water out of the main bathroom area.

No airconditioning which made

No airconditioning which made it uncomfortable at times, especially at night. Good food, good price for dining but very slow service, language still a problem, as well.

Location of this 4 stars hotel

Location of this 4 stars hotel is good but Taxi drivers do not know the place well. The older Sunworld Hotel which is 5 stars is beside it. Try the public bus services which is only 1 yuan all the way. Cheap way to see Beijing too.

Nice hotel, would stay again

Clean, great location. English-speaking ability was more limited than I expected, but not enough to be a major barrier (be sure to come equipped with necessary paperwork - written English was proficient). Hotel restaurant food was VERY expensive and concierge is not extremely helpful in finding other restaurants...be prepared to explore unless you don't mind the expense. Business center is also expensive to use (pay for internet and pay over $1 USD per page printed). Also, the comfort of the beds would present a major drawback for someone with back problems.

Good Value, Great Location

This was exactly what i expected after reading the reviews. It was a 4 star hotel in Beijing. The hotel is extremely conveniently located on the East side of the Forbidden City, just around the corner from the famous WangFuJing shopping district. In this regard, it is perfect. Taxi's know how to find the hotel and you can walk from the hotel to a huge mall, great restaurants, and to the Forbidden City or the museum across the street. The Post Office is also just 2 blocks up and they will help you send packages!! There is a Catholic Church just one block away if you're into Christianity... We loved the location and chose the hotel because of the price to location ratio. The room was very pretty and average for Chinese standards. We had the King-Deluxe. The bathroom was fine. The only down-side was the bed. it was very hard. but, most Chinese hotel beds are the same!! The breakfast buffet was abundant and had many Eastern/Western choices. We were happy to eat there both mornings. There are quick fast-foods across the street if you want to save money, but then you won't have as many choices. Check out the pastry shop across the street with capuccinos, lattes and great desserts! I would definitely return....

Beijing 2010

This is a business-class hotel in the most convenient location imaginable! Its 2-3 blocks from a metro station, but cabs are so cheap it is very easy to get anywhere you want to go right from the hotel - the hotel staff is very helpful at writing out your destination in chinese for the drivers who do not speak english. Food at the hotel is not worth the money - its not expensive, but there are great restaurants, and the night market right down the street for more authentic meals. The hotel will also arrange for a private sedan to the great wall. For eight hours, door to door service, it was only a little over 100 USD. If you don't want a tour guide and do the wall and the ming tombs at your own pace it is totally worth the money and just a little more expensive than an official tour (for two people). Two things to note - the beds are hard, but all beds an Beijing are hard. Also, there is free internet in the room (not wi-fi).

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Very useful grocery store a 1-1.5 blocks away. Good for bottled water, snacks, and stuff to make picnic lunches for the Great Wall. On the same street there is also a 24-hr McDonald's that is great for morning coffee.
