Nice river views but terrible staff atitude.

The entrance and lobby and elevators

The entrance and lobby and elevators smelt really badly of probably rotting carpet. The rooms on the riverside have great views. Reception was very slow - understaffed. The reception couldn't find our bookings at check in and it took an hour to sort out. They wanted us to pay for a night until thery could contact [website] the next day, even though we had printouts of the booking and receipt for payment

The location is very good,a good

The location is very good,a good view of the city and the river. The room was cleaner than previous reviews had indicated, however the carpet was never vaccumed while we were there. The airconditioning system was eratic, far too hot, management suggested open the windows. Opening windows let in cool outside air (60F)accompanied by mosquitos. Breakfasts could have been excellent, chinese or western, however the buffet style urns were inadequately heated resulting in an almost cold, hot breakfast. Staff were pleasant and cheerful, however I am sure Chinese Hotel Management schools place much higher pass marks on presentation rather than the ability to quality control Hotel services. Room service seemed to be able to take away used towels but only on our sixth day of seven did they manage to replace them with two clean towels without being telephoned. Replacement of Toilet rolls was also tardy but I did it get solved by the third day. I would not stay here again, nor could I recommend.

Great location - we came off a cruise ship and were able to walk with our trolley cases to the hotel. It is also located close many interesting areas of Shanghai and the others are easily reached by transport.

It seems most restaurants will not accept a non Chinese issued credit card so cash is required.

Dreadful hotel

The bathrooms were dirty. I had booked three rooms, and there were stains on the carpets. In china, when you check out in most hotels the cleaning staff go to the room and examine it and the mini bar, which is normal. In this particular hotel, we had left behind some expensive foods 9which was meant as a gift) in the fridge, and despite it been checked by staff, it was not reported to us and more than likely it was kept and eaten for them selves. The manager was very abrut when we tried to contact the hotel on the above issue. Apart from this, the breakfast that we paid for, was of very low quality and I would certainly advise anyone else not to stay in this hotel in the future. As mentioned above the rooms were not clean, the tiles in my bathroom were cracked and I could go on … Stay away.

Air Conditioning

The hotel had turned offthe cold air and the room was hot as hell. The carpet should have been replaced a long time ago. When I raised the issue of the heat in the room I was told that the cold air had been turned off because it was the fall season. I would recommend that everyone avoid this place unless they are willing to take whatever they get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
