Hotel Beacon Escazu

You never really know what to expect when booking online for a place you've never visited. We stayed at Beacon Escazu the night before departing Costa Rica so we didn't have a long trek to the airport the day of departure. This place was WAY better than expected or outlined in the photos. When driving through the town of Escazu to find the hotel location the surrounding neighborhood had us wondering what we got ourselves into. But this hotel was the jewel of the town and there were plenty of signs on the street to get us there. When we arrived we marveled at the huge juxtaposition - a hotel with elegance vs. the surrounding neighborhood. Staff was very personable and helpful. This hotel is only about 2-3 years old and meets USA 4star criteria. The pool and spa, while small are nicely placed within a garden, the beds were lush. There is a small gym, steam room, sauna and roof top space all included. The restaurant serves $$$ meals but they are works of art. We must have been visiting in the off season because I reserved two rooms and our family only saw one other couple while staying there. It was like we were the only one's on site and the staff made us very comfortable. A bit of a drive to the airport the next day (30 minutes) but definitely worth the visit and we will return next trip. I underestimated the hotel before arrival because I believe the description and previous reviews had me thinking along the lines of lower expectations. I was very impressed. this hotel is the best I've ever stayed at. Everyone was so professional, and very helpful with everything and anything you needed, the staff there works above the call of duty. can not say enough great things about all the people there, who were so friendly, and helpful, it was simply great all the way around.

We were only there for one night. Personel was wonderful. We had a problem of flooding from our ceiling during the night, but they quickly moved us safely to another room. Breakfast was perfect.

Nice fresh and clean rooms with a stylish colonial inspired interior, surrounded by a jungle garden. facilities include hot-tub, small pool and a basic gym. Very nice is that the breakfast is included in the price, as well as internet and international phone calls. Taking these factors into account the price is very attractive compared to similar class hotels which do charge separately for this type of service. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent while also pricy. Their french chef makes sure that the cuisine is of a standard you expect in a good restaurant in France, so if you like french cuisine then this is the place to have dinner.

They booked tours, got our taxis, warned us of problems that might arise while we were traveling and even warned us away from certain areas of San Jose. The maid service was excellent and the rooms were large and super clean! It is by far the best place to stay! Highly recommend Hotel Beacon Escazu!

This hotel is located in an area of San Jose where we felt perfectly comfortable walking around but is an easy cab ride (~$10) to both downtown San Jose and the airport. The room and the entire hotel are comfortable and elegant. The staff is extremely friendly, professional and helpful.

Stayed just one night at the end of our Costa Rica trip. Beautiful hotel, wonderful restaurant, SUPER comfortable beds; but I wouldn't venture too far from the grounds (if at all). It was a nice little retreat in a surprisingly urban setting.

Trip was for relaxation and to unwind. The service was top notch and exceptional. Leo at the front desk, and Jose in the Muse, were fabulous and extremely helpful! We were able to see several areas from our location. The property is wonderful and the spa is great. You have to try the Harmonic Healing massage with Laurie!The hotel is in the center of the city, so there is traffic and city noises. We would go back again.

What you have advetised for this Hotel is not True. It was described as Near to shopping center and Restaurant. This is what I found # 1 Not easy to find even by Taxi Driver, as they are not giving correct address but it is tricky address. # 2 Located in Poor rundown, unsfae Residential Area # 3 Even Hotel by itself do not feel safe, so they have Two Giant Metal Gate and keep close. # 4 When some one want to get in, they open the Gate but keep the other Gate to go out Closed. Once Car is in, they close the Entry Gate. So Car can not go out or back. # 5 No one can find the Hotel and not even close by shopping cetre or restaurant. It is totally unsafe for Foreigner to go out walking at any time. This Hotel must not be on a list for Orbitz, as some one will sue. Even local person can not think, that there can be a Hotel in this area. The good thing, the Hotel inside is very good, as they want to create impression to a Customer. All amenities are 5 Star Rated. Only the location is very Bad, wrong description given to you. At one time, I felt, I do not want to stay there and waste my money paid to Orbitz and book another Hotel.
