Luxurious Experience

This Hilton (because there are two) is elegant and definitely a five star experience. The gym is wonderful. The room is wonderful. The breakfast is superb. The staff is friendly and excellent. There were however two downsides. One was the Internet price. They wanted 25 Euros a day for Internet access. Their drink prices (nonalcoholic and alcoholic) were also exhorbitant.

Fantastic American-Style Hotel

I stayed at the Hilton (by the river) for 4 days during August 2009. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Not much, but here goes. The first thing you need to know is that this is a BIG property, at least by Prague standards. It is a 12 or so-story building housed in a large glass square. It is not for those seeking a quaint, old-world, boutique-style hotel. My room, a standard king guest room on the 5th floor, was spacious and well-appointed with quality furniture and a very comfortable bed. The desk space was huge! The bathroom had a tub and shower combination with a commode in a separate room. There were complimentary coffe and tea-making facilities and a (non-complimentary) mini-bar. My view from the window was in to the huge atrium of the hotel, which is flooded with natural light from the skylight windows. Although I did not have a view out to the city, there were some fantastic views from the elevator lobby, and so I would imagine there would be too from rooms that have a view outside. So, all-in-all, I was very pleased with the facilities, which I think are very much what you'd expect from a Hilton. My experience with staff (receptionist, maitre d', housekeeping, spa) was fantastic. From the cheerful welcome greeting when I checked in, to the morning greetings from the maids when I left my room at the start of the day, everyone seemed pleasant and helpful. I really can't understand the negative remarks from other reviewers regarding rudeness from staff. It just didn't happen to me. What I liked most about this hotel were the spa facilities, which are complimentary for registered guests. The spa is very well maintained, super clean, and modern. You can choose from a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and indoor pool to relax and pass the time away when you're not sighseeing in the city. There are numerous showers and lockers in separate facilites for men and women. Some reviewers mention that you cannot go into the sauna wearing swimming suits. This is true, but you CAN go in with a towel (provided at the spa help desk) wrapped around you so that you dont have to be naked. There are terry-cloth robes provided in the guest rooms so that you can wear over your smimming attire when going from your room to the spa. There are also massage treatments available, but I did not partake of these so can't really comment. I also did not use the fitness room, but if it's anything like the spa, it should be great. It is also true, as some reviewers mention, that a la carte items, such as internet access, breakfast, etc., are expensive. Breakfast itself costs 660Kc (about $38) per person! Breakfast was included in my rate, so cost wasn't much of a consideration for me. The breakfast room is very cheerful...and gets very busy! But, nonetheless, there is every imaginable item one could possibly desire to eat in the morning, including made-to-order items. Service is very professional, done with style by uniformed hosts and hostesses. If you're on a budget and don't have breakfast as part of your rate, you may want to go out to eat as it will be considerably cheaper. This Hilton is located a bit away from the tourist attractions. It is about one block from the Florenc metro stop. There you can take the red or yellow line into the city within 5 mins., or you can catch a tram, which also stops in front of the Florenc metro. Cost for either is 18Kc. By contrast, a taxi to Wenceslas Square cost me 100Kc. You can also walk along the river into the Old Town, but expect that to take at least 25 mins. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton and would not hesitate to recommend it to those not put off by big American-style hotels while staying in European capitals.

Access to Florenc Metro and trams is found by crossing through building directly in front of hotel's lower lobby entrance. This is the cheapest way to get into the city center, aside from walking.

Nice Hotel, Skimps on Internet

Our first stop was the Sheraton in Warsaw and we were spoiled because we were upgraded to Executive status (don't know how) and internet was free and available. Breakfast was wonderful. Free sparkling water and snack all day long. So when we got to the Hilton we were told that for 50 euros a day we could get executive status. That was too expensive. Internet access was available for $32 a day, or $15 for 15 minutes, ridiculous especially when a Starbucks was 2 blocks away with free wi fi. We requested a room with a view and was given one with the knowledge that the walk to the elevator was pretty long. The restaurant was very good and a little expensive. The hotel's location was close to, but really outside of the center of town, requiring a walk of about 10 blocks to get to the center. Considering that the hotel was rather less than full--the restaurant hardly had any guests--the executive upgrade for $25 a night would have been fair and would have improved our stay. Also, no mention was made of the pool and fitness center to us when we signed in and I got the impression that those were reserved for the business traveler.

Excellent Hotel, Great Location

Excellent Hotel, Nice Rooms, Great Location. Front Desk staff not too friendly or receptive. Young male ([...])(sp) at Consierge's desk proved to be the only front desk staff member to provide outstanding customer service and assistance. Other staff at reception were not very courteous or proactive. Better location than downtown Hilton if onstreet parking is needed. Parking in Prague and Hilton Parking is way too expensive. There is some free parking on the street in the vicinity of this hotel. Also, very good breakfast buffet.

suggest upgrades

The hotel staff was terrific. I would suggest that you recommend upgrading to the executive level. They have a private dining area with breakfast and snacks included including an open bar. Closet space was limited but this is my experience throughout Europe. The staff was very security conscious which made things very comfortable. The hotel had it's own transportation staff with nice vehicles and reasonable prices - it prevented uninnitiated tourists from being ripped off by taxi drivers.
