Description
In July 2010 Tivoli Hotel opened its doors as the first themed hotel in Denmark. The hotel has come to life through a close cooperation between Arp-Hansen Hotel Group and Tivoli Gardens. In addition to 396 air conditioned rooms featuring free wireless internet and flat screen television the hotel also encompasses a fitness centre, swimming pool, bar and restaurant as well as indoor and outdoor playgrounds. Tivoli Hotels fantastic architecture and many luxurious facilities makes the hotel completely unique and without parallel among other hotels. We have consciously chosen to highlight this by declining an official star classification, choosing instead to let the hotel experience speak for itself - an amazing experience in Copenhagen.

Good choice

  • Transatlantic cruiser
  • 7 May 2012
Very modern décor – not as tacky as it seemed on the web site—very modern , clean + free internet, hot water kettle and instant coffee and creamer, and free passes and shuttles to the gardens of same name every ½ hour. The service is somewhat slow at the desk and the brasserie when you are hot and tired and eager to check in and get to your room and/or when you would like to eat and drink while waiting for check in time. However: everyone is friendly and courteous. The train station (10 minutes on foot) in case you would take the train to the airport (departures every 10 minutes/ length of trip 15 minutes

Guess its better in the summertime

The walk in to the city center is a cold, windy experience in the winter. Not a comforting feeling to have drunk personnel on new years eve... I was thinking... what if something happens...? these guys are taking responsibility under for example a fire...? I think not... Good rooms. Nice view. The shuttlebus is a good idea.

Clean, Contemporary, Good location

  • Lillium
  • 13 Mar 2012
We had a "family" room which was actually 2 standard rooms that were connected. Rooms were small but very clean. Both had only full-size beds. Twin would have been better with 2 older children. Important to note that the bathroom/shower combo, though ultra modern and pod-like were completely enclosed in frosted glass and offered minimal privacy.

With an unparalleled signature design by Utzon and a fantastic location on a man made island in Copenhagen's Harbour, the Copenhagen Island is the perfect starting point for a visit to Copenhagen. The recently built hotel opened its doors in the summer of 2006 welcoming its guests to a one-of-a-kind experience. Ultra modern quality characterizes the entire hotel. In addition to 326 air-conditioned rooms featuring wireless Internet and flat screen television, the hotel also encompasses a fitness centre and, not least, an exciting restaurant. The Harbour, with a stunning harbour view. Copenhagen Island's fantastic architecture and many luxurious facilities make the hotel completely unique and without parallel among other hotels. Contempary Danish design. Immaculate. Several problems ultimately satisfied with price reduction. TV didn't work--took 2 hours to get sevice, but it never did work. Promised an additional single bed which never came (we thought this would put us in a larger room). Must walk down & back up 40 stairs or a long ramp which puts you 300 feet beyond hotel entrance--not fun with luggage. Excellent food in resturant but limited menu & slow service.

Great Stay

  • SuperTraveler
  • 6 Jun 2011
We were very impressed with this hotel. The location was great, just one train stop away from Copenhagen Central/Tivoli/etc.. We actually walked to Tivoli and it only took about 15 minutes. The hotel itself was very nice. Very modern with fairly spacious rooms (for Europe at least), clean, etc... We had an actual double bed rather than two singles pushed together, flat screen TV, small closet, mini bar, clean bathroom with shampoo, etc (why is this so uncommon in European hotels?), and even an outlet converter! We would definitely stay there again.

Good Value and Great Location

  • Aimster
  • 2 Jan 2012
As was described in previous reviews, the bathroom was a little odd, but I got used to it. I am very sensitive to the smell of smoke, and altough the room itself didn't smell like smoke, I could smell it when my neighbors were smoking. Either other guests disregard the no-smoking policy or the hotel has rooms in which smoking is allowed. Fortunately, this didn't happen all the time. I also didn't doubt that the linens were clean, but they just didn't smell very fresh. The breakfast buffet was great- since food and everything else is quite expensive in Copenhagen, it made the hotel rate an even bigger bargain. It was hearty enough- not used to having deli meat and cheese for breakfast, so it was a kind of brunch for me. Also, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, and you could even walk to Central Station in 10 min.

The good and the bad.

  • golfman
  • 13 Aug 2010
[...]The room was clean and average size for Europe. Due to an unusual heat wave, no A/C, the room was warm and the town was alive with people out to cool off. Hotel was reasonably quite, nicely located 3 blocks from the RR station, Tivoli Gardens, shopping and sites of interest.Pricing was reasonable for what was offerd. There were nice breakfast selections and the entire staff was friendly. We would stay there again for it's location and pricing[...].

We were overnighting before a cruise to Norway. Rooms are small, but reasonably clean. Room was warm (early August) but too noisy at times with window open because courtyard has a table and people sit and smoke and talk till all hours of the morning. <

Description
The hotel is part of a multi-purpose centre and its hotel facilities are particularly suited to individual travelers, interested in the recreational facilities available to guests. Entry into the swimming pool complex is included when staying at the hotel. The facade is a mixture of large glass panels and stone. It is a modern building surrounded by more traditional buildings in this newly regenerated and now very popular area. The hotel is a newly built hotel, constructed alongside an existing conference centre and leisure complex with extensive swimming and diving facilities; a short walk from the central railway station. It is in the heart of the city and located on the edge of the up and coming Vesterbro area of the city which is popular with the young and trendy.

Unbeatable location for the price

Noisy but tolerable as long as you have windows closed. Housekeeping should probably check the bathroom supply for multi-day stay guests.

Very nice stay!

  • 8 Dec 2009
The DGI was very nice. The staff was pleasant and the rooms were comfortable. The towel warming rack was awesome. The breakfast was wonderful. The location was just a few blocks from the train station, but in a rough neighborhood. If you stayed on the main street all was well. But you can have that in any large city. As for the hotel, I would stay there again, very clean and a pleastant staff.
