The Good and the BAD

  • Nestor
  • 4 Aug 2009
I was at the hotel for ten days for the world out games. My first four days were good. the hotel is nice and clean on the outside. But i did noticed that the sheets were not changed for 2 days they just fixed the bed. Also did not throw the garbage away for 2 days. For some reason they forgot to mention that the train stops runing at 1 am and dont start until 6 am again. this is a beautifull city at night but if you stay here you have to return on the train by 12 and thats when everything happens there since they have a great night life. I asked what bus would be working and no one that works there knew about it so i ended up staying in the city a few times in another hotel. I also on tuesday had a knee injury were i wasnt able to walk for 2 days so i asked if they could transfer me to the other hotel close to the center since i had friends there that would take care of me and they said no. Funny thing is that the other hotel they have in the city were willing to do an internal transfer to help me out, but in the lobby were i was staying they still said no. Not too helpfull knowing i was injured. Would not recomend to any athletes or anyone that likes the night life because you will not enjoy it at all. And also they dont have a shuttle so if you get there any time after ten pm by the time you get your lugage you minus well take a cab because again the train is not working.

Great breakfast and is included

  • 26 May 2011
Great breakfast and is included in the rate. Location is a bit of a pain if you are coming from the airport as you need to go to Copenhagen central and come back out again a couple of stops on the train - so an airport shuttle would have been good. The area is very much a business area so don't expect a lot to be going on. At the time we went the hotel was having an extension built, however, rooms were well sound proofed and we were looking directly at the building site. The fitness room was closed for refurbishment, however, Scandic gave you free access to DK Fitness just a short walk away. Room was a little on the small side and the shower could have had better pressure. Pricing was good (for Copenhagen where everything is very expensive) if you bought in advance.

Very modern décor – not as tacky as it seemed on the web site—very modern , clean + free internet, hot water kettle and instant coffee and creamer, and free passes and shuttles to the gardens of same name every ½ hour. The service is somewhat slow at the desk and the brasserie when you are hot and tired and eager to check in and get to your room and/or when you would like to eat and drink while waiting for check in time. However: everyone is friendly and courteous. The train station (10 minutes on foot) in case you would take the train to the airport (departures every 10 minutes/ length of trip 15 minutes

The walk in to the city center is a cold, windy experience in the winter. Not a comforting feeling to have drunk personnel on new years eve... I was thinking... what if something happens...? these guys are taking responsibility under for example a fire...? I think not... Good rooms. Nice view. The shuttlebus is a good idea.

Small room which includes everything. It reminds me of IKEA design, but everything is rather new and functioning. Tiny shower. Internet available at the lobby. Elevator works fine. 15 minutes walk from the main railway station. They are very good value for money in a country that is not cheap. I arrived late (23:30), and had to go to another Cabinn hotel to pick up the entry card. It was fine, the other place is 5 minutes away.

Good location a few blocks from train station. Great breakfast, nice small lobby bar. Rooms away from the room are very quiet, with good room darkening curtains. Main complaint was room cleanliness which could be easily fixed. Nice modern shower had mold on the tile joints. Toilet dirty. Beautiful wood floor, but dust in the corners and under the bed was terrible.

good location

Hotel is one block from the front of the Central Station - turn back in the direction the train came in from if you are coming from the airport. We unfortunately left the back of the station and had to walk down several blocks of cobblestone streets to find the hotel. The staff did provide us with a ferry brochure but directions were brief and incomplete. We did have a map so found our way ok on our own. They also loaned us a converter plug for our laptop. The room was small and there were 2 very small half bathrooms: one with small sink and toilet and the other was a tiled shower room with sink and a shower curtain to block water from ruining the door. The hotel was clean was probably very elegant in its time but could use a facelift.

We had a "family" room which was actually 2 standard rooms that were connected. Rooms were small but very clean. Both had only full-size beds. Twin would have been better with 2 older children. Important to note that the bathroom/shower combo, though ultra modern and pod-like were completely enclosed in frosted glass and offered minimal privacy.

Great place to stay---4.8 Stars!

  • NY Scholar
  • 9 May 2012
I have stayed at the Kong Arthur Hotel several times now, and continue to have a wonderful experience. This time I was in a newly renovated section that had a spacious and beautiful room that was very clean and very nicely appointed. As usual, the staff was friendly and efficient. A great plus, as usual, was the breakfast buffet, and the proximity of a wonderful Spanish restaurant (Pinxtos). A new perk that I did not get to try, but hope to next time, is the onsite spa. I only have two minor criticisms. First, it would be a great help if the hotel employed a regular bellhop or installed a ramp for persons coming with heavy luggage. My trip was all business, so I had books and a computer. After dragging all of this around the airports, it was somewhat daunting to have to pull them up and down the stairs surrounding the reception area. I asked for help as I was leaving, though, and the front desk was accommodating and friendly. They also got me a great cab driver who handled the rest. So it all ended as well as the trip had gone up to that point. Second, and finally, I'd like to suggest that the Hotel adds chicken or turkey sausage to its breakfast offerings for those who do not eat pork. My overall feeling, though, about this hotel is that it is splendid. So hats off to the Kong Arthur!

Contempary Danish design. Immaculate. Several problems ultimately satisfied with price reduction. TV didn't work--took 2 hours to get sevice, but it never did work. Promised an additional single bed which never came (we thought this would put us in a larger room). Must walk down & back up 40 stairs or a long ramp which puts you 300 feet beyond hotel entrance--not fun with luggage. Excellent food in resturant but limited menu & slow service.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The location was great, just one train stop away from Copenhagen Central/Tivoli/etc.. We actually walked to Tivoli and it only took about 15 minutes. The hotel itself was very nice. Very modern with fairly spacious rooms (for Europe at least), clean, etc... We had an actual double bed rather than two singles pushed together, flat screen TV, small closet, mini bar, clean bathroom with shampoo, etc (why is this so uncommon in European hotels?), and even an outlet converter! We would definitely stay there again.

Check city calendar to enjoy!

  • DCZH
  • 24 Aug 2011
Great hotel in a fantastic location. To really enjoy, however, check the city's festival calendar! During our stay in a balcony room overlooking City Hall Square, there was a festival with huge crowds and window-rattling techno music with speakers directed at the hotel. Two pieces of good news: the city shuts down music at 11 pm and, when the festival left town, we enjoyed the view and balcony to the fullest.

Great value -- no charges at check-out out when I was expecting to pay for the local calls and WIFI use for 4 days. Breakfast was included and provided a healthy and nourishing start for each day. Efficient, polite staff all around. Location is convenient if you're coming in from the airport by train. And from the Central Station, you have access to anywhere in Europe.

And as a place to stay for a few nights, was great. Charming in its appearance, the room was just the right size for me. Two blocks from the S train, one stop to the Metro - very convenient to get to/from the airport and to the Bella Center, which is where my event was held. Would stay there again!

A lovely experience in Copenhagen

A lovely experience in Copenhagen that makes a refreshing change from some of the older hotels in the city. Staying on the water seems to have a calming effect on all! Metro is close by and you can easily walk to the city across the bridge; which gives you extra justification for eating more of the fabulous food available!

WINTER BREAK IN DENMARK

  • January Jaunt organiser
  • 24 Jan 2012
City centre and many attractions within reasonable walking distance. Some rooms are small, but perfectly adequate, but a few had very small bathrooms. A slightly expensive breakfast was well worth it (eat as much as you like): set you up for the day and did not need to eat again until the evening. Metro within walking distance for transport to and from airport and attractions further afield. A good choice for our weekend break.

Stayed for three night over New Year's and had a great time. Ours was a very small room, but perfectly decent and clean, and great value. I imagine it can get a little noisy from street noise, so perhaps request a room facing the court yard and/or fairly high up.

Description
Among the linden trees on a peaceful side street to Kongens Nytorv lies the 3 star Hotel Opera whose neighbours includes the Royal Theatre and the vibrant Nyhavn. Hotel Opera is just a 2 minute walk from busses, the metro and all the shopping possibilities on the pedestrian street, Stroget. In the hotel's entrance, guests are welcomed by the Little Mermaid in the form of one of the sculptures used as model for the original sculpture found at the Langelinie harbour front. Hotel Opera was built in 1869, back then it functioned as a boarding house until it was redesigned as a hotel in the classic English style in 1950. The perfect location of the hotel next to the Royal Theatre is highlighted inside with pictures of the actors who have resided at the hotel over the years. There are also thematic halls with photographs of current actors, as well as photographies dedicated to music and the ballet. The hotel's 91 stylish rooms are individually and classically decorated, and the hotel is characterized by a charming and calm atmosphere, not least in our cosy lobby bar, where drinks are served around the clock.

This was certainly a great buy for the money. The location was close to the Harbor, shopping, the metro and within walking distance to many sites in Copenhagen. The breakfast buffet was abundant and the dining area was quite lovely. I was a little surprised by the small rooms but they were very clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to tour the city on a budget.

The corner of Nyhavn by Copenhagen's harbour is a favourite meeting point for businessmen, opera singers and lovers. The 2 historically preserved warehouses that house 71 Nyhavn Hotel, have been a focal point for Nyhavn's guests. The warehouse was originally used for storing spices from the Far East. Even though the old Pomeranian wooden beams remain an architectural highlight, 71 Nyhavn Hotel is a thoroughly modern 4 star hotel with all the comforts today's travellers expect.

This hotel is perfectly located for enjoying the delights of Copenhagen. We had a harbour view room and it was wonderful to look across the boats right outside the window across to the main harbour. We enjoyed dining at the many restaurants just a few metres up the road and the main attractions of Copenhagen are all within walking distance. The staff are exceptionally helpful and we would recommend this hotel to any visitors to Copenhagen

Be a local and a tourist.

  • The CA Guy
  • 22 Mar 2012
The room was very clean. The staff was nice as can be you have to remember they are Danes so they can seem cold but thats just the culture. The Mermaid is a nice walk through gorgeous town homes next to the water. Makes you think about buying a summer condo. If you cook and make a mess, leave it and have your room cleaned, yes they will do your dishes. The Otto is pricey but all the resturaunts in Copenhagen are pricey thats why you get a hotel with a kitchen so you dont eat out as much. The italian resturaunt across the walkway was cheap and tasty. There is a bakery a stones throw from the Netto on the corner with fresh pastries and breads for breakfast if you wanna grab something on the way. Take a walk down the street and over the bridge to get to the train, alot faster then the bus. and less stops. This is my 4th trip to Copenhagen and I have stayed at the best (Marriott) and not the best. This hotel gives the feel of a five star hotel with the comfort of being able to raid the fridge on those rainy windy Danish days. But doesnt break the bank. I saved so much money from buying my own groceries. So dont stay here... It was horrible...lol

Nice apartment. Accommodations were great with king bed, hair dryer, kitchenette with dishes, pot & pans, glassware and diswasher. Very clean. Although the desk clerk tried, we could not get ice from the restaurant that seemed to be part of the apartment complex. Turned out that it was not walking distance to the town sights nor the port from which we were leaving. Next time we would probably stay on Nyhaven or at least closer to it.

Best Western Hotel Hebron

  • 10 May 2011
We arrived at the Hotel Hebron about 10am Sunday morning after leaving our cruise ship. The hotel desk clerk was young, spoke excellent English and was truly delightful. She showed us where to store our luggage as our room wasn't yet ready(as was expected). She also said that they would fix us an early breakfast on Monday morning and call a taxi for us as we needed to leave by 6:15am to go to the airport and breakfast would not normally be served until after we needed to leave. Breakfast was, indeed, waiting or us Monday morning and the taxi arrived just as promised. I would definately say that the service was superb. Our room was on the second floor (reached by elevator)small, but certainly adequate. Queen size bed, desk, small chair in corner and built in night tables. Bathroom had small shower. By European standards, this was a normal hotel room. Although small, it certainly suited our needs and was very clean. Perhaps the only drawback was that it did not have air conditioning or a fan. As our room faced the hotel atrium area (open at the top)we did open our windows to let in some fresh air. As summers can sometimes be very warm, no air conditioning could be a problem. The hotel was located about three blocks from Tivoli Gardens and within easy walking distance to almost everything. The Hop On, Hop Off bus stop was about a block away, so very convenient. There is a Gentlemen's Club right next to the hotel, but didn't seem to cause a problem. We would definately stay in this hotel again, but not in the summer heat!

The hotel is located close to the center of town. The price was very reasonable for my stay. The rooms look new. They kept the hotel floors very warm. I kept my window open with the thermostat cranked down. One of the elevators can fit 2 people. That might be discomforting for some. The shower was nice. It has stone flooring and the showerhead was mounted in the ceiling. There was a nice assortment of food for breakfast.
