Conceived as a replica of town of Puerto Plata, the Puerto Plata Village mixes the beauty of the Victorian architecture at the beginning of the century, with the modern facilities of the nineteenth. Guests are able to enjoy the ambience of a club atmosphere based on the resort's layout, in an elegant setting. The beach of Playa Dorada, with its golden sand and blue waters, is only 550 meters away from the village. The golf course, designed by world reknowned Robert Trent Jones, surrounds the hotel, giving it a great location for outside enjoyment. ***NOTE - Our Ambrosia Disco will be closed from Sunday to Thursday. Disco activity will be performance around the swimming pool area near Guananico's Bar. The bar will be offering drinks until 2am.

Good Hotel

First Hotel to the right when entering Playa Dorado. Walking Distance to discos, bars, etc. in Playa Dorado. Decent food in hotel, also a bargain. Quiet spot during weekdays. Some residents of DR come on Sat and Sun.

Great get away for couples or family

Our stay was very pleasant. There was a wide variety of food for adults and children and two pools. Also there was enough extra activity curriculums to keep everyone busy throughout your stay. You catered to everyone needs.

Basic Hotel

The hotel was very basic... If your looking for something elaborate this is not the place! They gave us no inforamtion at check-in about the hotel. The restaurants were closed 4 nights we were there so we had to eat buffet. When called to fix things in the room they never came....The positive thing is the staff was very friendly!!

puerto plata village

this was my 2nd time in under 6 months and some improvements are being made, I will start here. The animation staff are getting a little better in their job and keeping the gestures to family oriented. The rooms are clean although I was lending my shower to a few people in another building who had on going issues. Food quality dropped and because of the lack of guests they are trying different things to save on waste, I do honor the efforts. For the most part the place is quiet and a big effort is made into its cleanliness. It is what it is and for the "price" a good vacation. I give appluase to the dining staff as except for 1 sour faced young lady, they are all pleasant. I send a c- out to the bar tender that thinks yelling zuuup is cool, it gets annoying. The thing though that would keep me from recomending this hotel or any other in the area is that on Saturday and Sunday until 3p.m. the locals come and they are "loud" and take over and make it so that you give up your place, be it pool side or at the bar, they do not follow the rules (which to the rest of us who are reminded of them all week long)and if you tell a guard about it, they all of a sudden don't speak your language and leave the area, but by the way, they are also the life guard.

Great Value

Great for the money. Staff was courteous and helpful! Options for activities, but I chose to take a more relaxed route with most of my time being spent by the pool and at the beach. Neither were overcrowded. Decent food. Ample drinks.
