Hotel Mercure Comercial Santo Domingo

Everything was fine until checkout,I was charged for calls but never shown a printout of the itemized calls,all done while taxi was ready to take me to the airport,forced to pay or miss my flight,will dispute the charges,all calls made by me were done on calling card. I felt I was being held hostage. Very uncomfortable feeling,hope to resolve this. Will not recommend hotel to anyone until issue is resolved,not the money but to have calls itemized for proof. lstemI

The hotel is in the center of the old city. There are several restaurants,tourist attractions, shopping, bars, at walking distance. Rooms are clean, the rate includes a huge breakfast, at the bar the prices are reasonable. Food is very good and at reasonable prces.

This hotel is in the heart of the colonial district (next to El Conde, the primary walking street), and it is easy to walk to all of the historical sites. I stayed on a special discounted rate, so that made it a good value, too. The wi-fi worked great; able to surf the web from my room. Also, I was surprised by the wide selection of tv channels (many English-speaking ones in addition to the Spanish ones). The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was very good. Finally, it was surprisingly quiet given the tourist location. I would give it 4.5 stars; doesn't have the high-end amenities (swimming pool or gym). Overall, a good place to stay.

Small rooms and really Small bathroom,water leak in the bathroom.At the front desk very unprofessional and the price super expensive.There is no parking, no gym, no pool.They have policy on visitor too, so if you are single person you are going to have problem with the idiot at the front desk and laundry is very expensive also plus they stole my underwears.The only good thing in this Hotel is that is on a great location.....most of the staff are very good people...

First room I was assigned had water leak and was damp all over the floor. Have stayed previously here. Rooms are small, bathroom small. It's ok for about 2 nights but no more. The location is what makes it attractive. On a scale of 1-10 it's a 5, overpriced.

Nice looking hotel...few roaches in the hallway....breakfast was decent....room was clean...decent beds....staff was pleasant...if your a single guy looking to have fun don't come here the policy on visitors change every 10-20 min...was unsure at times if allowed or not allowed...if had to pay extra or not pay..if they didn't care or anything....No gym....wifi coverage was shakey at times....bathroom was small....only good thing is location of hotel is en the center of all attractions...

The hotel is not worth the price .The room's are small and have a musty mildew smell even with the ac on. The bathroom's are small and have elavated shower stall's wich is stupid.I would like to meet the idot who designed the shower's and the simple desk jockey who had no idea of what he was doing who approved the design AND SMACK BOTH UPSIDE THE HEAD. The staff I feel was very good and helpful with the exception of one barmaid who made a nasty comment about my wife and I, my wife is Dominican soo she was a little heated but went to the manager we din't see her anymore that day or next day. The 30 dollar a day mini bar deposit is a ripoff just for soda,water,candy ,chips you can walk 2 blocks to jumbo's and get all you need for 5 buck's.
