This is an excellent product for its class and has a high standard of accommodation and service. 0407 hm The hotel is a high rise building with a white painted facade. The hotel is situated in a residential area of Cairo among the Embassies and Diplomatic residences. The river Nile is close by, whilst the Cairo museum and Tahrir Square can be reached by car within few minutes.

Great location, great service

The best location in Cairo (Zamelek, a relatively green and quiet central neighborhood), and great value for money. The hotel could use a sprucing up, but everything was clean and proper, the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the hot buffet breakfast (included with our room rate) abundant, varied and good. There is absolutely no need to pay big-hotel-chain prices for a nice place to stay in Cairo.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Cairo is a very safe city so there is no need to insulate yourself excessively by taking guided tours everywhere. Take local taxis to the attractions you want to see, and bargain to get the best fare -- never more than 10 pounds for a short trip or 20-25 pounds to cross the city. A good guidebook should be all the "guiding" you need. Save your money for nice dinners out and for the souk!

Good Location

This hotel is located in a good location very close to the nile. There is a Spanish restaurant in the 10th floor overlooking the Nile & West Cairo. The breakfast was very good. The hotel staff were very friendly. There is a 24 hours internet cafe right across the hotel. Bank & money exchange is also a few steps away. The only negative thing that I can mention is the morning prayer at 4:10 A.M. from the nearby mosque which I could hear in our room, but this is very common with many hotels in Islamic countries. My guide told me that there were almost 1000 mosque in Cairo with a population of 18,000,000. I guess ear plug is needed. We had the same problem in Istanbul too.

Great Value in Cairo

The Golden Tulip Flamenco Hotel was exactly what we needed after 2 weeks touring down the Nile. First of all I would highly recommend staying in Zamalek area of Cairo and definitely stay at the Flamenco. The rooms were very large and clean with a sitting area. We had a great view of the Nile. It appears that they are renovating the rooms, ours was redone, the bathroom spotless and new, it was a great experience. It was also nice to be able to walk outside and not be bombarded by people to buy something. The area is also nice and quiet with some great coffee shops to hang out in. Great location with some fabulous restaurants and shops nearby where you won't get ripped off, European feel. The staff also were fantatic, we came from the train station, needless to say very early but they did their very best to get us a room asap. The staff was friendly teaching us a bit of Arabic every morning, overall I would highly recommend this place of serenity in a place of chaos, love Cairo, love Flamenco Hotel!!!
